First Time Visits to Pike County and Baton Rouge!

Columbus, MS-The Mississippi State Championship Challenge will make two first time ever visits this weekend as the MSCCS pilots will make their first ever appearance at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi and then venture across the border to take part in the MSCCS versus SUPR Challenge at the Baton Rouge Raceway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The strong following of MSCCS drivers are prepared for battle this weekend where healthy purses, the championship chase, bragging rights, and pride are all on the line.

Action gets underway this Saturday night at Pike County Speedway with a 50-lap A-Main paying $2,500 to win and $300 to start on the high banked 3/8’s mile oval. It will be the first ever MSCCS visit but many of the MSCCS drivers have had their share of success on the fast oval and are looking forward to taking the first ever win under the MSCCS banner. The format at Pike County will consist of Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying and the Cliburn Tank Lines Qualifier events plus two provisional starters to complete the 22-car starting field.

Action will then moves south to Baton Rouge Raceway for the 2nd ever MSCCS versus SUPR Series Challenge event. David Breazeale and the MSCCS took the win in the previous encounter in Jackson, Mississippi in 2003. The Battle in Baton Rouge will see the SUPR passing points race format observed along with B-Mains and each series receiving 2 provisional starters each to determine the 24-car starting field. The night will culminate with a $2,500 to win and $400 to start 50-lap main event. Rules for the Baton Rouge event will see open engines at 2300lbs and SUPR/SAS Spec at 2150lbs. All steel motors 2200lbs. Weights are anytime. Tire rules will be open on the front with Hoosier 55’s, 1600’s, and American Racer MD-56’s allowed on the rear with a minimum of 60 hardness when checked. SUPR Spec spoiler template will be used.

There will be plenty of added monies on the line with the MSCCS contingency program each night such as Ronnie Rogers’ contingency program with the “Win with Wall 2 Wall” bonus system for drivers using Wall 2 Wall power plants by offering a significant $500 bonus for each MSCCS win using Wall2Wall engines. In addition to the healthy contingency plan Wall 2 Wall will offer $100 cash to the Top Qualifier and $200 if being the Top Qualifier with a Wall 2 Wall engine at each event.

The Jay Dickens Racing Engines Rookie of the Year battle has Neil Baggett as the leading RotY campaigner. David Breazeale is leading the Brown Engineering Fast Gun Award. David Gentry of Lewisburg, Tennessee continues to show the way leading the MSCCS points as David Breazeale and Rodney Wing have made progress and are closing the gap on Gentry.
