THIS WEEK AT MACON SPEEDWAY DOUBLE LATE MODEL FEATURES!!
The UMP Late Models are back in action this Saturday night at Macon Speedway. Last week’s POWRi Midgets and Micros lit up the track, but it’s time to get back to chasing the elusive track championships. Mother Nature has created a super fast weekend of Late Model horsepower for Macon Speedway fans due to the features being rained out on April 18. Fans will now get the chance to watch as the UMP Late Model division drivers will battle each other for TWO feature events this Saturday night!
Saturday’s Cinco de Mayo fiesta will feature a jalapeno eating contest. Fans will also see the parade of sombrero’s as the Amateur Hornet division will all be sporting their fiesta inspired hats to see who will be the top Cinco de Mayo winner.
Last week’s Modified feature proved to be exciting as Dave Crawley, Jr. and Steve Ewing went back and forth for the top spot throughout the feature event. Ewing had control of the race until lap 14 when Crawley overcame the lapped traffic and Ewing for the lead. Crawley never looked back as he captured his second feature win of 2009. Macon Speedway UMP Late Model points leader Kyle Logue of Cisco, IL., will be back in action this Saturday night trying to put some space between himself and driver Mike Hammerle of St. Charles, MO., who currently sits a comfortable 12 points behind our leader.
Tickets for Night of Nascar Stars I, featuring Justin Allgaier, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will be sold in advance and will be general admission seats only. Tickets will go on sale for all three Night of Nascar Stars events, including June 11, which features Nascar Stars Tony Stewart and Mark Martin & July 22, featuring Kasey Kahne on Friday, May 1 at 10:00 AM. Once the events are on sale, orders can be placed by calling 217-764-3000 or 217-764-3200. Adult seats are $20 and seats for children 12 and under are $5 for each event. Pit passes will be $30.
