Hunter Rasdon captures Rislone USCS Modified Missouri State Championship at Malden Speedway

Malden, Mo - 9/13/08 - Jonesboro, Arkansas open wheel modified young gun, Hunter Rasdon won the 25-lap Rislone Oil Stabilizer USCS Modified Series Missouri State Championship race on Saturday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri. Rasdon, a two-time 2008 Rislone USCS Modified Series feature winner led every lap of the 25-lap Championship race.

Rasdon's good fortunes began when Aero Race Wheels First Heat winner Robert Powers from Campbell, Missouri drew a six inversion in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing placing Rasdon on the K&N Pole for the start of the race. Rasdon took full advantage of his starting position and held of the previous night's Rislone USCS Modified Speedweek Dash winner Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi for the first three laps before the current point's leader, Ashley Newman from Ripley, Tennessee move past Rowland and behind Rasdon up to challenge him.

Newman challenged Rasdon through several re-starts until lap fourteen when Brad Buck from Paragould, Arkansas charged past Newman into the runner-up spot. Rasdon survived Buck's challenge to rob him of his trip to victory lane and won his second Rislone USCS Modified Series feature of the 2008 season. Malden Speedway point's leader, Paul Reeder from Malden, Missouri charged past Ashley Newman on lap eighteen to finish in the third position. Newman followed in fourth place and Casey Rowland rounded out the top five finishers with a fifth place finish in the Championship Finale.

Junior Lemmings from Jackson, Tennessee charged all the way from a 23rd place start into sixth place at the finish. Jeff Davis from Jonesboro, Arkansas started deep in the field as well and charged forward seven positions to finish seventh. Josh Boaz from Bartlett, Tennessee started twentieth and raced his way past twelve other drivers to finish eighth. Tim Cater from Manila, Arkansas finished in the ninth position. He originally started fourteenth. Austin Matthews from nearby Dexter, Missouri rounded out the top ten finishers in the finale.

The previous night's feature winner, Robert Powers from Campbell, Missouri won the 10-lap Aero Race Wheels First Heat Race. Jerry Buck won the 10-lap RHS Cylinder Heads sponsored Second Heat Race. The Rislone USCS Modified Series point's leader, Ashley Newman capped the qualifying rounds with a win in the 10-lap Bar's Leaks Third Heat. Junior lemmings earned the Tennison Brothers Metals, Inc. Hard Charger Award after passing 17 cars in the 25 lap main event. The K&N Filters pole Award went to eventual feature winner, Hunter Rasdon after first heat winner Robert Powers drew a six inversion in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing on.
