CANTON, IL (7-21-07) Jimmy Hurley captured his first O’Reilly Midwest
All Star Series Feature Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway, staving
off several challenges during the exciting thirty-lap event.

Hurley started on the outside of the front row, by virtue of being
ninth-fastest in qualifying and having four cars who timed quicker
failing to finish in the top four of their heats, thus losing their
feature starting position advantage. Hurley led the first lap by mere
inches over third-starting and season points leader Jerrod Hull. Hurley
would relinquish the lead to Hull on lap two but closely followed in
second. Meanwhile, Scott Young and Tim Montgomery made it a four car
battle in the first half of the race, as they raced through lapped
traffic on a track that allowed three grooves. While the leaders
battled, Rob Standridge was putting on a charge from his twentieth
starting position, moving into the top ten by the second lap and the top
five by lap thirteen.

Hurley would catch Hull and retake the lead on lap thirteen.
Third-running Montgomery would exit following a spin and mechanical
problems on lap fifteen. Hurley would then set sail, masterfully
negotiating lapped cars while Hull, Standridge, Young and a fast closing
Terry Babb would battle each other through lapped cars, changing
positions on virtually every one of the next ten laps.

A lap twenty-five restart saw Hurley once again pull away as Young would
hold off Babb and fourth place Hull. Standridge, who had worked his way
up to second, lost his brakes late in the race and finished fifth. Corey
Weyant, A.J Bruns, Joey Moughan, Ryan Bunton and Jason Keith completed
the top ten. Several drivers moved through the field, with Standridge
advancing fifteen places, Babb passed nine cars and Keith, who started
last after changing a tire, passed eleven cars.

Heat races were won by Bunton, Montgomery and Weyant, while Montgomery
passed Hull on the final corner to capture Dash honors. Bunton paced the
twenty one entries with a time of 11.384.

The series will return to Spoon River Speedway in September for the Tom
Knowles Memorial. Next up for the Midwest All Stars are dates at Auto
Tire and Parts Race Park in Benton, MO. Friday, July 27^th and St.
Francois County Raceway in Farmington, MO. Saturday July 28^th . For
