LEBANON MO. Mike Bowers survived a brutal night at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway, taking his first O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series win of the season. Bowers was one of just nine drivers still on the track after 40 laps, taking the Budweiser 40. Heavy rains soaked the racing surface, causing it to be very fast and rough, making it hard on equipment. Bill Frye caught Terry Phillips, and the pair left the I-44 Speedway in a dead heat for the series point lead.

David Gibson earned the pole for the night, with Charlie Randolph to his outside. Randolph took the lead, but the first yellow of the night appeared after just one lap. Scott Drake had pulled up on the backstretch, and was the first car out of action.

Brad Looney shot past Gibson into second on the restart, then drove past Randolph into the lead on the next lap in turn four. Bill Frye moved into the top five, and was past Gibson, into third by lap four. Leslie Essary brought out the caution on lap 10, as he was pulled up on the backstretch with a flat tire.

Bill Frye got his car sideways on the restart, collecting Terry Phillips, Jeff Floyd, and Charlie Randolph. On the next attempt to restart the event, Terry Phillips, Jack Sullivan, and Gary Stolba was involved. It was especially damaging for Phillips, who was finished for the night.

David Gibson fought off Jeff Taylor on the restart, then Gibson went side by side with Looney for the lead on lap 13. Gibson got the spot in turn two, then the caution came out again on lap 14, as Jeff Taylor had pulled up in turn two. Taylor was through for the night.

Mike Brown shot into second on the restart, then Mike Bowers and Rex McCroskey was by Looney. Gibson was a five carlength leader on Brown on lap 17. Chris Smyser moved to fourth, past McCroskey in turn two on lap 20. Leslie Essary brought out the caution again on lap 21, with another flat tire on the backstretch. Rex McCroskey retired during the caution period.

Bowers moved past Brown on the restart, then drove into the lead past Gibson in turn four. Gary Stolba brought out the next caution on lap 23 as he was spun in turn four. Joey Mack moved to fifth on the restart, then drove past Brown into fourth on lap 28. Mack and Frye were side by side for third on lap 30, then Mack made the pass in turn four on lap 31.

Bowers and Gibson were side by side for the lead on lap 33. Gibson was able to stay on Bowers's and pulled even again at the white flag. Bowers shot out to a couple of carlengths lead in turn two and came home with the win.

Mike Bowers took the win, with David Gibson, Joey Mack, Bill Frye, and Mike Brown making up the top five. Jeff Floyd, Chris Smyser, Charlie Randolph, Brad Looney, and Jerry Buck rounded out the top ten.

Rick Brown took advantage of his front row starting spot and held off repeated challanges from Burl Woods in capturing the SuperStock win as Roscoe Harris made his best showing charging up to third.

In the Bomber feature,Jeff Durr took the opening lead with Wes Winslow in heavy tow followed by Micheal Maggard, and Brandon Knutdson.

On lap 3,with Winslow diving to the inside in turn 4,the axle broke on his car sending him into a 4 barrell roll flip, and right behind him,Lebanon's Chad Cromer taking a wild ride rolling over also. Both drivers were able to walk away unhurt.

On the restart,Durr continued to lead with Knudtson putting on heavy pressure. On lap 8,Brandon made the low side pass with Maggard following and Casey Mooneyham coming on strong.Going through the traffic,Knudtson claimed his first victory followed closely by Mooneyham,Maggard,a hard charging David Hendricks, and early leader Durr
