This is my first post on here. MotorMouth92 and Hoffman10 have been real helpful with some information on an old sprinter I am restoring that was driven by Pete Alberts of East St. Louis in 1939. I also have a big interest in several other drivers from the St. Louis area who raced in the 30's and 40's. I know this is a heck of a long time ago but maybe your parents or grandparents remember them or knew them or are related to them. I have gathered tons of information and photographs by the 1000's from the pre WW2 sprint cars (or bigcars as they were know then) in hopes to writing a book like has never been done before. St. Louis had a very rich history even back then and I hope to locate relatives or friends of some of the following St. Louis greats. They are: William "Bill" Howe of Chesterfield and Howe Hisso fame, Tommy Thompson, Lou Walker, John Purdy, Ed & Bill Brown of Brown Bros. machine, Tommy Scheck aka Shorty Burns, Frankie Beeder, Phil & Pete Mocca, and last but not least Wes Saegasser the very first, the original "One-Armed Bandit". I am sure I have missed one or two who made a difference also. St. Louis area tracks that ran bigcars were Ramona Park, Middletown, & Creve Coeur and probably many others. Any copies or originals of original material or photos would be greatly appreciated and proper credit will be given. I also buy any quantity of material from the 20's through the 1950's for research on this era. Please contact me at hissonut1@msn.com Thanks, Jeff Adams

old racer info

If you haven't already talked to him, you might give Jr. Knepper a call or stop by at K&K Garage and talk to him. IN belleville. He was a working race mechanic on midgets 6 nights a week when he was 13 years old. That was back about 1945 I think. His memory is awesome for racing information.

Awe come on gang, with all this rich racing history in St. Louis doesn't anyone have any connections? I am desperate!

Jeff
