(Warrensburg, MO) Jake Williams of Lockwood, Missouri finds himself in a tie for the lead with Robbie Test of Jefferson City, Missouri on top of the championship point standings. Both Test and Williams have three starts for the year and their recent string of consistent finishes has allowed them to grab the early season lead. Last year, Williams raced his way to a solid eighth-place run in the final standings. Robbie Test is the leading rookie of the year just ahead of Bob Test and Dwight Niehoff, who sit third and fourth in the standings. Jeff Schlup rounds out the top five heading into this week's action.

All four ULMA points-awarding tracks ran their programs last weekend, the first time this year all tracks were running. There were several strong runs posted by ULMA members. Steven Clancy and J.D. Hubert were both victorious and became the first official ULMA feature winners of the year; Clancy at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Hubert in Wheatland, Missouri.

Kevin Coyne of Kingsville, Missouri ran a strong second at Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) in Butler, Missouri during the first-ever ULMA-sanctioned event at the track. Coyne also finished third at Valley Speedway and now finds himself well inside the top ten rankings in sixth position. Other top ten runs at BMS included Chad Frewaldt 6th, Randy Ainsworth 7th, Jake Williams 8th, and Dwight Niehoff 10th. Six of the fourteen cars present at BMS were ULMA members.

Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri saw a triple threat of ULMA drivers finishing in the top five; these drivers included Schlup in 2nd, Robbie Test 3rd, and Bob Test 4th. After running strong early on in the main event, the 'Missouri Missile' Danny Lorton rebounded for a 7th-place finish. A.L. Barbour also posted a top ten run in 8th position, Robbie Wright finished the night off in 11th place with Blake David in 15th. Eight of the twenty-three drivers in attendance were ULMA members.

Eight late models made their way to Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri. Steven Clancy grabbed an early season victory at the paperclip-shaped track after the track's third attempt at getting its season underway. Allen Perryman of Belton, Missouri posted one of his best runs ever in ULMA competition by coming home with a solid 2nd place finish. As previously mentioned, Coyne was 3rd with Ainsworth coming home 5th. Frewaldt was not able to start the main event. Five of the eight cars present were ULMA members.

At Wheatland, Missouri it was J.D. Hubert driving to victory ahead of Evan Hubert. Toby Ott posted an outstanding run to 3rd, the best finish for Ott in limited ULMA appearances. Former track champion Kevin Kaiser wound up 4th just ahead of current standings co-leader Jake Williams in 5th. There were 16 ULMA members present at the track, which was in its first week of competition. Beginning this weekend, Lucas Oil Speedway is opening up its rules to another series of late models and will no longer be a ULMA-only sanctioned track.

ULMA board members will meet Thursday evening to discuss the current state of racing for the association and to make some key decisions regarding sponsorship, additional ULMA-sanctioned tracks, and special events. Drivers may voice their concern to any of the board members by contacting them via information posted on the official ULMA Web site, which is located at www.ulmaracing.com.

This weekend, all four tracks will again be in competition. Check out the Friday-night affiliated tracks at www.callawayraceways.com and www.butlermotorspeedway.webs.com. Saturday tracks include www.valleyspeedway.com; and www.lucasoilspeedway.com. In less than two weeks, the first ULMA special event of the year is scheduled at 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri. This event takes place on Saturday, May 9th, a date specially picked for when there are no other ULMA sanctioned points-earning races scheduled. The race will be a points-awarding event for participating drivers. The winner will go home with $1,000 and main-event starters go away with at least $150. All non-qualifiers will go home with $50.
