Jamie Wilson, Jim Roach, Jack Evans Jr. and Eddie Dieker all took feature event wins Sunday night at Quincy Raceways as Gem City Ford brought the action in the 4th of July IMCA Late Model Shoot Out.

Jamie Wilson was the show in the 50 lap IMCA Late Model Feature event as Wilson grabbed the lead away from Jerry Weisenberger on the second circuit and held off all challenges to take home the $2000 winners share. Wilson settled into a comfortable 5 car length lead over Gary Russell and cruised for the first 18 laps until a caution flag closed up the field. Russel then dogged Wilson until the leaders encountered lapped traffic on the 32nd lap. Wilson then pulled out to a comfortable margin as Russell had trouble getting by several lapped cars until the caution flag came out again on the 34th lap. When action resumed, the caution flag came out two more times over the next couple of laps, giving Russell the opportunity to get by Wilson. Russell worked mightily to get the lead but was turned back every time. Russell pulled up along side Wilson on the 48th lap and looked like he might have a shot at the lead but Wilson hung on to take his biggest win ever. Russell settled for second followed by Lonnie Bailey in third, Terry Schlipman in fourth and Jerry Weisenberger in fifth. Schlipman, Joey Gower, and Wilson were the heat race winners with Denny Woodworth claiming the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. Lonnie Bailey now has a seven point margin over Brent Slocum in the Track Points Championship battle as Mark Burgtorf finished the night in the twenty first spot after having ignition problems, falling 20 points down to Bailey.

Jim Roach took over the driving duties in Keith Pratt’s Miller A-Modified and cruised to his first feature win of the season at Quincy. Roach dominated the feature after a fifth lap incident eliminated the cars of Robbie Warner and Henry Delonjay. Michael Long and David Weitholder battled over the second spot over the last ten laps of the 20 lapper with Long coming home in second after contact in the last corner left Weitholder struggling home in fifth. Tom Goble grabbed third with Jim Gillenwater taking fourth. Henry Delonjay and Roach were the heat race victors with Brandon Lennox taking the checkered flag in the P&S Auto and Truck Collison Repair Trophy Dash. Delonjay’s early exit allowed Long to close to within one point in the battle for the Track Points Championship.

Gary Dreyer jumped into the early lead of the B-Modified feature event followed by Kelly Bartz, Wyatt Lance and Jack Evans Jr. Evans got by Bartz bringing Lance along on the third lap. Evans stayed glued to Dreyer until Dreyer slipped up on the tenth circuit letting Evans gain the lead. Terry Houston was on a mission and worked his way to the second spot on the twelveth lap and hounded Evans for the top spot until the checkered flag flew. Evans Jr. took the win with Houston in second, Kelly Bartz in third, Tony Dunker in fourth and Jim Leffew in fifth. Dreyer, Lance and Leffew were the heat race winners. Wyatt Lance fell out of the lead in the points chase as his fourteenth place finish, due to a flat tire, gave Tony Dunker a five point advantage over Lance and Jim Leffew who are now tied for second.

Bruce Hatfield was the early leader in the Bomber feature event until Eddie Dieker made his way to the top spot on the fourth circuit. Hatfield stayed close to Dieker for the next four laps but an overheating problem sidelined his efforts by lap ten. Defending Track Points Champion, Steve Carlin used his steady and quiet style to pull into second with Hatfield’s problems but he was unable to mount a serious challenge to Dieker’s efforts. Dieker grabbed the win with Carlin in second, Brent Chapman in third, Jeff Delonjay in fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Dieker now holds a nine point advantage over Carlin in the points chase.
