South Park PA’s Jared Miley has always been good at Tim Bainey’s Central PA Speedway in Clearfield, PA but for the O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series sanctioned ‘Grizzly’, it was a night to remember for the 23 year-old chauffer. “Yeah I’m pretty excited,” Miley said while sipping down a cold beer. “My tires just fired on that last restart and we drove around the outside. I just had the best car at the right time. Thank goodness for the caution because Coleby (Frye) had it in the bag.”

It was Tim Smith Jr, and Dave Hess Jr. bringing the star-studded field to the green flag with Smith taking the early lead from the get go. Action was intense behind the race leader as ASLMS point leader Boom Briggs almost lost control of his mount in the early stages before the event was slowed on lap seven for ASLMS regular Rob Blair as his 25th Anniversary #W11 came to a stop.

On the ensuing restart, eighth place starter and ASLMS regular ‘Superfly’ Coleby Frye made his move to get by Charleroi, PA’s Sam Stile and Gettysburg, PA’s Jeremy Miller to move into second spot behind the race leader Smith. ‘Superfly’ now had all of his attention focused on Smith as he began to size him up to take the lead. On lap 11, Frye made his move on the Tim to take the lead and slightly pull away before a caution for Jason Covert on lap 14 slowed the pace. Jeremy Miller pressured the race leader for a handful of laps before another caution fell on lap 19 for Franklin, PA’s Matt Lux as he came to a stop in turn four.

When racing resumed it was Dan Stone’s, Thompson, PA, turn to challenge for the lead as he battled hard with Coleby and taking the lead on lap 22. The lead was short lived though as Frye battled back and re-took the lead on lap 25. It was around this time that fans started to take notice of the 15th starting, Miley. Miley had moved into the top-six and was charging fast as Frye was coming up on lapped traffic. The lapped traffic opened the door for one of the hottest drivers in the region, Gregg Satterlee, to challenge Coleby for the lead. Satterlee got to the rear bumper of Frye’s machine but Coleby worked through lapped traffic masterfully and was able to pull away from Satterlee while Miley and Miller now pressured Gregg for the runner-up spot.

The action intensified as the group battled with each other as well as lapped traffic. The ultra racy Central PA Speedway was allowing the field to run from top to bottom, two, three, sometimes four wide. Every lap the three to four car group was scored in different positions. Until Stone’s fantastic run came to an end on lap 44 when he spun in turns one and two. The caution set up the final six laps of the event and negated the solid lead Frye had established. Unfortunately for Coleby, the caution was the best thing that could have happened for Miley as it took him one lap to make his move to take the lead on the high side of the speedway. Miley checked out from there to claim his first ever O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series victory and a cool $7,000. Frye came home second followed by 20th starting Mike Knight, Miller in fourth and Satterlee in fifth. Robbie Blair was sixth with Briggs seventh, Denton Boyer was eighth, Dave Hess Jr, ninth and Keith Barbara rounded out the top ten.
