(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and the Iron Motorsports team made the long haul to Calvert City, KY and Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway over the weekend for the annual Commonwealth Cup. This year’s edition of the race paid $15,000 to the winner. Action kicked off on the ultra-wide surface on Friday night with qualifying and heat races. Jeep wheeled his Miller Bros. Coal / Bay Line Fire Protection #55 Warrior Ford Taurus to a third place finish in his heat race, which earned him a 12th place starting spot in the feature to be held on Saturday.

Mother Nature won on Saturday, as the Commonwealth Cup fell victim to a rainout. The $15,000 to win event was rescheduled for Saturday night, November 15. Jeep is scheduled to come back to the state-of-the-art facility when the action resumes at KLMS in a few weeks.

According to Jeep, “I think we had a good enough car to finish second in our heat race, but we got caught on the inside of the double file restarts and that really hurt us. We needed to be on the outside there and it cost us a valuable position.”

Jeep and the rest of the Iron Motorsports team are scheduled to take the next couple of weeks off until the rescheduled Commonwealth Cup on November 15. For more information on this event, log on to www.klms.com.
