(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Iron Motorsports rolled through the pit gate at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 7-9 for the 47th edition of the 'World 100.' The most prestigious event in the Super Late Model industry drew 104 competitors to the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant and things got underway with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs, each of which paid $10,000 to the winner. On Thursday night, Jeep Van Wormer drove his new XR1 Rocket racecar by Brucebilt Performance to a fifth place finish in his heat race, a win in his consolation event, and a sixteenth place effort in the 25-lap sprint. At the "Big E" on Friday evening, Jeep scored an impressive heat race triumph prior to knocking down a solid ninth place performance in the 25-lapper - after running in the top five early in the feature distance.

The largest crowd ever in the storied history of Eldora Speedway then assembled on Saturday and all eyes were focused on who would come out on top of the 'World 100' and receive the famous globe trophy, along with the hefty $50,000 winner's share. Jeep placed fifth in his loaded heat race, but later earned the third transfer spot through his consolation event. After rolling off from the outside of the thirteenth row in the 100-lap headliner, the Pinconning, Michigan standout retired his #55 machine after the halfway mark and settled for a twenty-third place 'World 100' showing. "I was really happy with our performance over the weekend at Eldora, especially breaking out a brand new piece like that," commented Van Wormer earlier this week. "I have to thank Bruce and all of his guys at Brucebilt Performance for putting together a fast XR1 Rocket car for us. That's the best I have felt at Eldora in a few years getting a heat race win and a top ten, so that definitely makes me excited. I'm looking at doing a few more races this season, but we just don't know when and where as of yet."

Jeep and his #55 team are now set for at least a couple of weekends off, as they will not race on September 15-16 or September 22-23. They are eyeing some late-season specials, but are not ready to add any more races to their schedule at this time.
