Villanow, GA (7/31/11) --- Capping off the month of July much as he started it, Jeff Smith (# 17S) of Villanow, GA and the Team 17 Hill Motorsports gang made a successful weekend of action with a pair of Crate Late Model wins. On Friday night the "Josh Roberts Trucking, FK Bearings, Hypercoils, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oils, Bilstein, Martin Motorsports, Gene's Racing Parts" sponsored Warrior / RaceTek powered team fended off 2011 dominator Jason Welshan winning the 20-lap $800 feature at Boyd's, before returning to the home-track North GA Speedway Saturday and winning their "A" Main feature of the night. SPANKY held the #1 spot for the entire caution free feature race Friday, as he and Welshan danced thru the backmarker traffic. The win became extra sweet as a protest was filed against the racecar after the event, which comes with a larger teardown payoff. Smith's winnings likely put the team over the $1,500 mark after pocketing the $550 feature.
The victory also closes Smith in on the Boyd's Crate LM Championship Chase which he trails his Tennessee combatent. Saturday again Smith would be chased, again for the entirity of the feature, but this time it would be by reigning Boyd's Speedway Track Champion Craig Burrows. Unable to catch or do anything with Smith and the FATBACK racecar, Burrows did what most would do.... check the legality of the motor. And again just like at the start of the month in Alabama, the Racetek powerplant would be deamed correct. "We had to sell my brand new motor, earlier this month, so atleast I got to keep this one last night" stated Smith. The team will likely see action alot this coming weekend as North GA Speedway hosts a Thursday LLM/Crate $1,200 to-WIN Special event before heading to Boyd's Friday night for some possible DOUBLE DUTY action as the S.R.R.S Super Late Models take center stage.
