Jerrod Hull?

I felt, as a track worker and former rescue worker, that the FF did an adequate job. Running out onto the track to get to Jerrod could have been certain death with 100 mph cars...the FF would have had to cross the racing surface to get to him since Jerrod stopped up on the cushion. I feel that the FF probably couldn't tell (any faster than the rest of us), what exactly was happening, until the fire flashed as Jerrod was trying to get out.

As far as the ambulance goes.... It WAS slow to respond to the scene...But that may have been an error on the side of caution as well because there were still cars driving around on a red flag... However, once on scene they wasted no time administering first aid to Jerrod. BEFORE the ambulance can roll, they have to give a full assessment for the patients injuries and treat accordingly. There isn't a lot that can't be done on scene, short of surgery/x-ray's, when you have trained Paramedics on board. As a former FF/EMT, it was obvious to me that they were evaluating injuries, cleaning/bandaging/medicating burns, and applying splints to the bum knee/leg.

Now, having said this.... I DO feel that all of our area tracks need to be more prepared for a fire situation. The previous week at Farmington, there was only one(visible) FF on the track. Dad and I were discussing previous to the Hull incident that they had at least added a FF to that end of the track. I am sure as stated above, that cost is the issue, but it shouldn't be. There should be FF's in the area that would be willing to volunteer services to the local tracks, and/or train other volunteers to assist with this at the track. Additionally, the push trucks could be fitted with extinquishers and other needed FF equipment, or they could build more vehicles from small pickups, jeeps or such to carry some equipment.

Disagree

It is great to hear Jarrod is doing better. I wish him best of luck with the surgery. Though he's torn his knee pretty bad and has burns on his legs, he is still very lucky. But I do have to comment on the horrible job by the track officials and the firefighters that were on the track, Jarrod may not even have the injuries he has, had it been for better efforts made by those crews. Me along with many other spectators that were there are very displeased with the way things were handled. It would not surprise me if many drivers including Jarrod dont come back to SFCR due to lack of emergency workers help and response time. Jarrod was fighting to get out of the car and the firefighters were just standing there staring at him in amazement instead of acting. And the ambulance crews were slacking in response time also. Racing is a very dangerous sport and we all realize these drivers are taking risks when getting behind the wheel but it is the job of a track promotor to make sure you have properly trained safety officials and that was not the case Saturday night. And what the hell were they waiting for when they got Jarrod in the ambulance, it took them FOREVER to take him to the hospital. Oh I guess they were trying to decide who was going to pay the bill!! Ive been going to SFCR for 23 years and Ive never seen this kind of piss poor safety officials. I just hope its better next year. Again, best of luck to Jarrod and his family, your in my prayers.
I do agree every track could use all kinds of fire prevention. But you don't see it .The guy was standing in the corner where Jerrod was and was there before the car got stopped.I was very happy with the way he handled the situation. He ran past the moving car and put Jerrod out first. That's a fact.Sorry to disagree with you Ni but that's the way it was.Has anybody thanked the firefighter. If he reads this,he probably won't be back.I do thank you and i'm sure Jerrod does too.

I have been to Farmington a few time this year and every time there was a wreck you would see Jeremy Holmes the fireman run to the wreck. He is a hard worker out there and people doesn't understand how hot it is in the fire suit and carrying the fire extinguisher across the track is not a easy job. Its a job a quarter of the people on here couldn't do including myself. Jeremy keep up the good work and hopefully they can get you some help in the opposite corner to take the load off of you next year. Paul Will

I would like to see the complainers on here run down the infield with fireboots on and a extinguisher in their hand even without the suit they could not do it. Jeremy lives down the street from me and he is a really good guy he always does a good job. Even does the turn 3 and 4 flagmans job most of the time! He is just that into it.

the time i flipped in 3 and 4, when i woke up on the track EMT's and fire fighters were right there doing there job. I couldn't do either job, so Kudo's from this guy lol

firefighters

I really don't think anybody was knocking or criticising his effort.I think their point is he shouldn't have to run.He should drive and get anywhere faster.Sound reasonable to me.He could get to the back straight fast in a push mobile or maybe a 4-wheeler.His attitude and effort is 110%.I talk to him every week. He's all business and dedicated.

You better watch what you say on here. Cause I'm the fireman in 3&4 and that was my little brother in 1&2 so if you have problem take it up with me.

i dont think anyone has a "problem" with what you and your brother did on that night. some people think it could have been handled quicker. you were on the scene as quick as anyone. my opinion was the ambulance could have rolled a little sooner. just to comment on your post, people are going to say alot of ignorant stuff here and not worry about anyones feelings. they hide behind their screen name. dont let it bother you. thanks for doing a good job that saturday night. jim

I think...

that Jeremy is an asset to the track and he does help me out in 3&4. Just the same way as Kirby helps out or Fred they don't have to they just do. I couldn't imagine how hot he gets in that get up on a hot summer night when everyone else is fanning their butts off to stay cool and I haven't heard him complain one time about someone being ungrateful. I also believe the ambulance crew does their job, just because they are cautious coming onto the track doesn't mean they aren't doing their job. They have other racers to look out for and people rushing to get to them whether it's their crew or someone going to help...they do this for a living I think they have been trained. Don't let anyone tell you that your not doing your job Jeremy...I think you bust your *** for the racers.

And the Oscar goes to.........

If there is one person that should have a problem with the way things were done, it would be Jerrod Hull. If Jerrod, his family or crew does not have a problem with it, let it go...

Log off the internet, hop in your cars and go take in all of the nice Fall colors. Gas is 2.75...drive the wheels off that thing.
