(Norman, IN) Veteran dirt late model pilot, Jim Curry, of Norman, IN, brought home two Top Ten finishes over the weekend, as he competed in a regular show at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday night and an UMP Challenge of Champions event at Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, IL the following night. The event at Danville paid $2,000 to the winner last night and drew several strong cars returning from the $100,000 to win Dream 100, which was held on Saturday night in Rossburg, OH.

Revel & Curry Motorsports were schedule to also compete in a regular show on Friday night at Union County Speedway in Liberty, IN, but that event was postponed due to persistent rain in the area. The team then headed to Brownstown to compete on the black ice of the famous ¼-mile semi-banked oval located on the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The #7 Swartz / Hoosier Parts Monte Carlo could never get hooked up on the tricky Brownstown surface, as “The Gentleman” struggled every time he hit the track. Jim ended up finishing tenth in the feature event at the track where he holds the most feature victories (104).

After a disappointing finish at Brownstown, the team headed west to Danville, IL to try for the $2,000 winner’s share. Jim once again struggled during the preliminary events, but was able to make the starting field and rolled off 17th in the feature event. The crew, lead by veteran wrench Frank Revel, finally got the Swartz chassis to Jim’s liking during the feature event. He advanced from his starting position deep in the main event to finish sixth in the caution-free race. Jim was racing hard with the fourth and fifth place car when the checkered flag dropped and felt like he had one of the quickest cars on the track.

The Revel & Curry Motorsports team hopes they hit on something last night during the feature event at Danville that will help them get the car faster and faster as the year progresses. They will try to make the car even better, as they are scheduled to attend the practice night for the Butterball Wooldridge Memorial this Friday night at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY. The 2003 Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee will then compete in the annual $5,000 to win Butterball Wooldridge Memorial event, which is held the next day. Jim finished second in a Battle of the Bluegrass Series event earlier this year at Richmond and hopes he can have another strong run this coming weekend.
