Clover, South Carolina (03/13/17) – Johnny Pursley picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night in his Pursley Grading #09 Longhorn Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model after the apparent winner came up light at the scales. The $5,000 triumph came in Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series action.
“Man that was a tough deal for Chris [Ferguson] to lose the race by 6 pounds, but we’ll take the win,” said Pursley. “I’ve been there in that situation, and it’s a tough one to swallow. We had a great car all night, and it feels good to get the first win of the year for this team.”
On Saturday night Johnny Pursley invaded Carolina Speedway (Gastonia, North Carolina) for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series season-opener.
Drawing 23 cars for the 17[sup]th[/sup] annual Skyler Trull Memorial, Pursley timed in second fastest in qualifying, putting him on the front row for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Holding his 2[sup]nd[/sup]-starting position for all 40-laps, Johnny initially crossed the finish line in 2[sup]nd[/sup] but was awarded his first win of the season after the apparent winner came in light at the scales. Zack Mitchell, Dennis Franklin, G.R. Smith, and Michael Brown rounded out the Top 5 finishers.
