Karts return to PIR this Saturday.

Paducah International Raceway more than a race to some locals, piece of history.

When Paducah International Raceway was put on the schedule for the Monsters of the Midwest Tour, local area racers eyes lite up, hearts raced, and the idea of getting to race at this particular venue made memories come alive. In PIR's early years karting was indeed a part of the Raceway's yearly events. Threw the years and change in ownership, and a transition to a solely stock car based track, local karters were forced to find new places to call home on the weekends. Weekends came and went, dads taking there sons or daughters to the stock car races on Friday nights, mom sitting in the stands with them while dad raced his stock car. Watching the haulers, and trailers come and go, NASCAR stars flying in on helicopters just to run a dirt track race, autographs, and all the memories that have came over the years. Now it has come time for the karts to return home, sons race in front of there dads, moms cheer for there sons or daughters, and to race at the same place where so many childhood memories were made.

This year karters and quarter midget teams will have a opportunity to make their own memories. The Monsters of the Midwest Tour has stepped up and scheduled two huge shows at Paducah International Raceway in 2014. The first event being this Saturday night May 31st and a return visit to the 1/5 mile track on July 19th. This tour does not only have the classes that will bring in traveling teams from all over the Midwest but it has dedicated a portion of its events to the local area racers by making affordable classes. We would love to hear your favorite memory or story that pertains to PIR. If you have the ability to comment below please do so. If you do not have the ability to do so please send your favorite memory or story to brucedulgar@comcast.net and we will ensure it get posted.
