KDKD FM 95.3 Radio Race Night and Veterans Appreciation Night this Saturday at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS)!

This Saturday, August 18th at CMS will be KDKD FM 95.3 Radio Race night. The radio station, which is based out of Clinton, Missouri, serves the Golden Valley and Truman Lake Region with your favorite country music, good-time oldies and NASCAR coverage. The American Legion riders are also going to be on hand to honor Veterans Appreciation Night at the speedway. The riders will have their bikes with the American Flags on display at the front gate starting around 5 p.m. when the admission gates open. The Post 131 Legion Riders are a group of Veterans that ride their bikes with the American Flags to honor veterans for their sacrifices and military service. The Color Guard will present the colors with a four-member team on the track prior to the races getting underway and will carry the American Flag, Missouri Flag, American Legion flag and the VFW Flag during the National Anthem.

With the final night of competition fast approaching on September 8th, 'Smokin' Joe Walker continues to lead a fierce battle for the 'Mighty' Modified title with a slim 40-point lead over Terry Schultz in second. Jim Moody is just 66 markers behind the leader in third. Only three points-earning nights remain for the mighty ones and the battle for the championship will likely go right down to the wire between these three drivers. On September 1st the modifieds will compete in their final "big one" of the year with a special 40-lap, $2,000-to-win main event. (Note: points are not awarded for this race). The chase for the Late Model championship resumes this weekend after last weekend's special non-points event. Brett Rollert, the defending track champion, has a slim 16-point lead over Steven Clancy in second with eight-time feature winner Bob King lurking close behind the two leaders in third. Over in the Street Stocks, the battle appears to be for the runner-up position as Brian 'Back in Black' Johnson has a commanding 138-point lead over Tammy Korff in second with Herb Dannar just 30 markers behind Korff in third. Scotty Martin, fresh off his 11th feature win of the year, also holds a commanding lead over his closest competitor in the B-Modified division. Brian Ziegler currently sits in second place, 194 points behind Martin with Michael Mullins in third just 20 points behind Ziegler. CMS will run their normal four-class program Saturday night consisting of the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-modifieds. A snapshot of the top ten in each division's point standings appears at the end of this write-up.

Drivers, owners and crewmen are reminded that the 2008 Rules Meeting will be held this Saturday at the track at 4 p.m. This meeting is open to anyone and serves as a basis for establishing next season's car division rules. Only drivers may vote on issues that require a vote to resolve. Track Statistician Glyda Jaeger and Official Scorer Karen Darling will serve as monitors for the meeting with CMS Owner Earl Walls, Flagman Hershel Thompson and Track Official Troy Walls also in attendance. The meeting itinerary will consist of going through the rules for each competing division based upon inputs received by track officials as submitted from the drivers throughout the last year. If the need arises, the drivers will vote on the subject-matter area in question and then move on to the next topic of discussion.

Admission prices for this weekend are as follows: general admission $10, seniors 65+ $5, military and students w/I.D. $5, kids ages six to twelve $5 and children ages 5 and under free. CMS is located just off Hwy 13 three and a half miles north of Warrensburg from the intersection of Highways 13 and 50 or thirteen miles south of the Interstate 70 exit at Higginsville just off of Hwy 13.
