Kelley Takes Last Lap Win in Modifieds/Essary Tops Opener In MidWay Debut

Lebanon,Mo-Before a standing room only crowd, The MidWay Speedway debuted in fine fashion Friday Night as over 65 race teams checked-in on the maiden race night.

The LateModel feature saw Shane Essary jump from his front row starting spot and led all 20 laps of the feature event.Essary could put his car anywhere on the track checked out as the battle for second was swapping behind as Kris Jackson nipped Roger Wilson at the line for the runner-up honors with second place being owned in a rotation including Danny Atkinson,Jared Harris,then Jackson with Wilson charging hard.

The Modifieds really thrilled the crowd as Justin Neuman jumped out to lead the opening lap.Jeff Miller then took control on lap 2 as Jamie Ragland,Eric Hudson and Rustin Miller were charging hard.The yellow waved as those 3 drivers along with Scott Miller were tangled in turn 2.On the restart,Neuman tried a power move on leader Jeff Miller in turn 2,but it didn't stick as the rookie driver got sideways.

Third Generation Driver JD Kelley had now moved into the runner-up spot behind leader Miller.As the green came back out,Kelley tried the low groove early,but Miller was strong.Back in the pack Ragland,Hudson,Miller,and Darren Vest were charging thorugh.Jim Pearcey Jr. ws making a move to the front and moved into third place and challanged Kelley.With Jeff Miller holding a small lead,the battle in the mid pack was fast with several positions being swapped.As the white flag was displayed,Leader Jeff Miller gave JD Kelley a look on the inside and Kelley made a bold move to the low side of turn 2 grabbing the lead.With Kelley holding a narrow lead, Rustin Miller had worked back up to make a challange for second place as Jeff Miller moved to the high-side.At the checkered it was JD Kelley claiming the win followed closely by Rustin Miller,Jeff Miller,Pearcey and Scott Miller.

The SuperStock feature had a hard fought battle up front as Matt Pilant took the opening lead with Tim Brown hot on his bumper.As Pilant was looking strong,Brown tried several times on the low side to make the move,but Pilant held on for the win followed by Brown,Weston Finley,Scott Perkins,and James O'Neil.

The FactoryStock feature was another closely contested battle as area hot shoe Sean Williams took the opening lead with Tim Brown right on his bumper as Robbie Bryant and Bill Schoen were battling for 3rd place as Randy Berry was coming hard from the middle of the field.

With Williams using the middle groove,Brown was coming fast down low.With the feature staying green,the lead pack caught lapped traffic around lap 9 as Williams used a car for a pick letting him pull away as much as 10 car lengths,but Brown starting reeling him in.As the white was displayed,Williams had his Camaro right in the middle groove as Brown moved downstairs and used the hub to make a last lap run,but Williams hung on for the win followed by Brown,Robbie Bryant,Bill Schoen and Randy Berry.

The Bomber feature was all Robert White as he started on the front row and never looked back as a tight battle for second involving Terry Lutz,Eldon Stoner,and Jerry Goring were back and forth.As the checkered flew,it was White gathering the win followed by Stoner who had spun earlier in the feature,Lutz,Goring and Chad Cromer at the line.

The Mini-Stock feature saw Bobby Moore take the early lead with Ike Moore right on his bumper.The lead duo battled back and forth,until lap 8 when the leaders got together on the backstretch taking both of them out.On the restart it was local Travis Pruitt who had been running third,moved into the lead and held on to gather in win.Following him to the stripe was John Wagner Jr,Tony Moore,Jerimah Mooney,and early leader Bobby Moore.

Racing resumes next Friday Night with the gates opening at 5,hotlaps at 7:25 and racing at 8PM with the Winged 305 Sprints cars making there first visit to the MidWay Speedway.
