Kelley Tops Midway Mods for 3rd Victory/Gayer Grabs First Win

Lebanon,Mo.-Third Generation Driver JD Kelley has found his home at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as he captured his third Modified feature win Friday Night before a strong field of Modifieds.

As the field took the green,Jamie Ragland grabbed the early control with Mike Riedle in hot chase.With Ragland setting a fast pace,JD Kelley started his charge to the front and battled with Riedle several laps until making the move on lap 6.Former IMCA Nationals winner Wayne Graybeal was working through the traffic and coming on strong also_On lap 8,Kelley made a move to the inside of Ragland as the duo battled several laps until lap 10 when last weeks winner Rustin Miller looped it in turn 4 bringing out the yellow.On the restart Kelley shot to the inside as Ragland shut the down quickly.For the next 4 laps,Ragland and Kelley battled back and forth until Kelley pulled the winning move in turn 2 and captured his 3rd feature win this season on the Midway.Following Kelley to the line were Ragland,Riedle,Graybeal and Scott Miller in the top 5.

The SuperStock feature saw 2-time winner Ben Newell jump to the early lead with Gary Johnson hot on his heels with Brad Gayer running third.On lap 2,Johnson along with JC Newell got tangled and headed for the pits returning at the end of the 17 car field.On the restart,Newell held to the top spot as last weeks winner Tony Jackson,Jr had now moved into second and began applying pressure while the battle for third was fast and tight with Gayer,Jody Schaltz,Rick Brown,and Tim Petty all battling for position.On lap 9,Jackson pulled the winning move in turn 2 and pulled away to grab his second win followed closely by Ben Newell,Brad Gayer,Tim Petty,and Jody Schaltz.

The FactoryStock feature saw an new face in the Energy Companies Winners Circle as Tim Brown's winning streak stopped at 2 in a row as Brad Gayer jumped from his front row starting spot and pulled away early while the battle for second involving Colt Cheevers,Randy Berry,tim Brown,and David Hendrix were swapping back and forth.As the feature went green and clean,Tim Brown finally broke away from the field and began his charge to Gayer.On lap 13 of the 15 lapper,Brown closed-up to 3 cars and began applying pressure.Coming for the white flag,Brown tried several passes,but Gayer who was denied the win last week,found the groove strong to grab his first win as Brown grabbed second and a fast battle for third went to David Hendrix,Colt Cheevers and Randy Berry.

The Bombers put on another great show as Missy Shaw grabbed the early with JR Baronowski,Robert White and Shawn Naturns in tow.On lap 3,White grabbed the top spot as Shaw was battling Chad Cromer,Baronowski,Josh Franklin for second as Dusty Rhoades was making a charge to the front.On lap 9,Rhoades brought out the yellow after losing a wheel ending his night and Baronowski,Cromer and Naturns all bunched up in turn 2 While tyler Schoen and Shawn Winfrey got together in turn 4. On the restart,White pulled away,but Shaw was trying to become the first woman driver in Midway's history to grab a feature win.A lap 13 caution for sheetmetal set-up a strong finish as young Matt Haynes was now battling Shaw for second and Josh Frnaklin was charging hard.As the white flew,it was White all by himslef with Shaw and Haynes battling for position as coming for the checkered, White grabbed win number 3 this season with Haynes grabbing second place honors followed by Shaw,Franklin,and Kenneth Nunn at the stripe.

The Mini-Stock feature would see its fourth different winner in four races this season as last weeks winner Ike Moore jumped to the early lead with Bobby Moore in tow.Mike Piercey was making a hard charge through the field and coming fast.With Ike setting the pace,John Wagner Jr. was quietly coming to the front of the pack and challanging as was Bryan Deatherage was challanging.On lap 9,Wagner made the winning pass over Moore as Deatherage followed closely behind with early leader Ike More,Piercey,and John Henson at the stripe.

Over 75 raceteams checked into the pits for the Friday Night Excitement on the Midway as next Friday Night the LateModels return with IMCA Spec LateModels running a special event on the Midway as gates open at 5 with Hotlaps at 7:30 and racing at 8PM.Also announced that Midway plans on running through the entire month of Sept as the track will finish with a Friday night Special Enduro race along with 3-4 other classes that Night on Sept.24th
