“POWRi Year-End Bash” Set For Saturday, Oct. 20

MILLSTADT, Ill. (Oct. 12, 2007) – The 2007 O’Reilly POWRi season will come to a conclusion in fine fashion Saturday, Oct. 20 at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill., as the 600cc Micro-Sprints end their year.

Called the “POWRi Year-End Bash,” more than a 100 cars for five divisions are expected in the pits. It will cap one of the most competitive seasons in POWRi Micro-Sprint history.

Dereck King sealed the championship Oct. 6 at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill., and will look to race for the victory in a non-pressure role. He leads Tony Roney, also this season a race winner, by only over 500 points.

While King has already locked up the championship and Roney is a stranglehold on second, the remainder of the top five remains up for grabs. Daniel Robinson, already this season a race winner, currently holds third, while Ryan Guyett could move up one spot from fourth with a strong evening. Austin Laskey and Zach Daum sit fifth and sixth respectively, but only 95 points separate the two drivers, who have each been successful this season.

Tyler Robbins, Austin Brown, Jimmy Stearns and Jason Harms round out the top 10.

In addition to running the Micro-Sprints, the night will be filled with other racing divisions, as juniors, restrictors, non-wing 600cc and non-wing upright 600cc thru 1200cc mini sprints in action.

Pit gates for the “POWRi Year-End Bash” open at 1 p.m., with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7.
