Greg King made his first trip to the Malden Speedway in 2005 a profitable one by topping an excellent field of 28 Modified competitors. Todd Hall won the Late Model feature. Joining that pair in victory lane were Claudie Cook in Hobby Stock, Johnny Houart in Street Stock, Justin McBroom in E-Mods and the team of Chris Kelley and Brandon Moore in Cruisers.

The Modified feature opened with pole sitter Troy Fowler grabbing the lead and holding it for over half the race. By lap 11 Fowler was racing bumper to bumper with King and Robby Arnold. On lap 12, both King and Arnold dove low out of turn two to move past Fowler. A lap later caution fell and reset the field. King got a good jump on the restart and put a modest cushion between himself and Arnold. King held on the final 7 laps to grab a victory in his first start of the season at the Malden Speedway. Arnold took second. Fowler held on for third. Mike Francis took fourth followed by Brad Buck. Robert Powers moved up from the 17th starting position to take 6th. Heat winners were Fowler, Buck, King, and Francis. Powers won the B-Main.

The Late Model Feature was quiet a duel for 10 laps before Todd Hall started pulling away and won by a comfortable margin. Hall grabbed the lead from the outset and held it for 5 laps before Tait Davenport closed the gap and raced side by side for a lap. Davenport grabbed the lead coming down the front stretch and held it for a lap before Hall came storming back. Hall retook the lead coming out of turn four on lap 7 and never looked back, pulling away to a half lap lead by the checkered flag. Davenport held on unchallenged for second. Gary Springs took third followed by Scott Bell and Mark Jordan. Hall also won the heat race.

Johnny Houart grabbed the lead on the 4th lap of a caution marred Street Stock feature and held on the rest of the way. The race was halted 7 times for caution, keeping the drivers from ever getting into any rhythm. Early leader, Aaron Darby challenged Houart a couple of times mid race, but this was Houart's week. Michael Lack nipped Paul Reeder at the finish line to take third. Mike Massie rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Reeder, Darby, Houart, and Jeff Beeson. Jason Duffel won the B-Main.
