Ray Walsh was real good tonight getting his 100th Career modified win. It was an exciting race. The only local cars there were Ray, Ed Dixon and Vince Grondzki. The ran Late Models, Steel blocks, mods, camaro's, pure stocks and hornets. I raced with the camaro's. I set fast time, getting there in 2 hours and 40 minutes, and that is with stopping for gas and having a nice conversation with a State Trooper in Carbondale. He was a pretty nice dude. My car handled better on the trip down than on the way home. It was way too hooked up and kept getting up on the bars, especially when I hit water holes and hydroplaned. It was so hooked up I had both front wheels off the ground. A few times though it got loose and I almost backed it into the gaurd rail again. I would be p.o.'ed if I knocked the spoiler off again. All in all it handled well, pretty much the best ever. I encountered a few jokers in this little poop box town between red bud and ellis grove. Apparently these clowns thought it would be some funny stuff to put 50 to 100 beer cans and bottles all the way across the road. I would have avoided the debris on the track but I was too busy futzing with my cd player and plowed most of them over. Lucky for them I didn't turn around and get out and show off my bo-staff skills. Somebody would have got laid the f out. I really could have used a co-pilot because the cd player malfunction really made me take my attention off my driving skills. Back to the other racing, the steel block feature was pretty much the worst ever, it was junk. The infield looked a lot like Marty's Used Auto Parts parking lot at about 4:30 in the afternoon. A few guys really sawed some stuff up. Scott Cole was fast in the mods but broke something and tried knocking down the fence. Rodney Melvin was fast, so was Dennis Erb. I think Erb could have maybe gotten him but he ran harder tires and the cautions hurt him. It got dusty. Thats about all i can think of right now.
