Look for major changes on the No. 48 Chevrolet team this season. Crew chief Chad Knaus, who was a part of two championships as a tire changer for Jeff Gordon, wanted a more athletic pit crew after several miscues cost driver Jimmie Johnson and his team valuable positions on the track last year.

Cory Quick and Ryan McCray, who formerly were with Jack Sprague's Busch Series team, will pair up as the front tire changer and carrier. Ryan Pepe, who changed rear tires for the No. 36 car last year, will take that position with the No. 48.

"I want the same consistency for this team that we had with the 24 car," Knaus says. "When you don't know whether you're going to have a 13- or 16-second pit stop, it really hampers your ability to make proper pit calls. We need to know that when we pit we'll either maintain our position or gain spots." . . .
