(St. Louis, MO) - Lake Hill Speedway was THE place to be on Sunday nights in the '70's and had been preserved under water for two and a half decades before it was unearthed this summer. Along with finding the track there has been an unbelievable interest in reliving the old days of this Valley Park, MO jewel. Racers from all over the Midwest are coming to spend Saturday, November 24, "bench racing" at the track on Forest Avenue and to take a few ceremonial laps around the third-mile.

The legendary asphalt track was "home" to Kenny Schrader, Rusty Wallace (and where those two started their racing careers as drivers) and their dads Bill Schrader and Russ Wallace among a staggering list of other great racers. "Dandy" Don Klein, of Ste. Genevieve, MO, still racing after 52 years behind the wheel, Jerry Sifford, of Shady Valley, MO and Kenny Schrum, of Foley, MO will be a few of the Lake Hill legends joining Dale Roper, of Springfield, MO, Butch Cooley, of Arnold, MO and Fred Tiedt, of Rolla, MO at the track to share old stories with everyone.

A group of racers from a wide range of area motorsports along with area race fans have volunteered their time and talents to clean up the property, rebuild the concession stand and ticket booth, remove trees, paint, rock the parking lot, fish the "lake" (which the track had become), and countless other details to host a one-day reunion. NASCAR star Kenny Wallace has been excited and pumped since the word first leaked out about the possibilities of getting everyone together. Kenny Wallace has even helped by pumping the water from the track, coordinating efforts to put all the details together and can't wait to be part of the new memories that will be created on Saturday, November 24.

Ticket prices for the event are $5 for adults, and children under 12 are free. The event runs from 10 a.m. until dusk on Saturday, November 24. Food and beverages will be available on the grounds as well as portable restroom facilities. Parking on site will be limited. A DVD of Lake Hill memorabilia and racing action will be for sale on November 24. Everyone will need to bring his or her own seating/lawn chairs. Rides in a two-seat race car will also be available for $10. There will be a souvenir t-shirt, program, and for the first 1000 in attendance a free photo.

This event is hosted by the St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club. Additional information can be found at their website, www.stlfanclub.com.
