He may not have been the track champion but Larry Phillips won almost every race he showed up at in 1969. My dad was crewing for Johnny Prior back then, who was the 1968 champ, and I believe we only finished ahead of him one time all season.

I think John Spencer's Sprint car with Jack Thorp driving still had the all time track record .I don't remember the year.

I don't remember sprints ever running at Lake Hill!!!!

I think John told me it was in 1966. It may have looked more like the old super modifies. I know they had open wheel shows there my brother run his midget there on 1976

Larry Phillips was a great racer and tough to beat unless you were Dick Trickle. Did Dick ever run at Lake Hill?

I do remember DT being there in the purple mustang at least once, no idea what year or how he did.. I also remember some of the KC area drivers showing up from time to time. Terry Bivens, Terry Brumley, Dave Wall, Willie Crane, Ferris Collier , etc.

Lake Hill was built for midgets, so yes they did run there.
As far as I know there were no sprint car or super modified races ever held at Lake Hill.
There were supers and sprints run at St. Charles.

I was wondering if the supers ran there before it was turned to to asphalt supers and sprint also ran at tri city

i had a super modified that I ran at jeff city in 1969---ran at tcs and st.clarles....I think we ran at lake hill on the pavement but not sure as my memories is faded over the years---this was black iron roll cage death trap with a 413 Chrysler motor

Old postcard from Lake Hill Speedway. Looks like the aerial photo was colorized (from black & white) and retouched to clean it up some.

Joe Shaheen had one or two sprint car races at the track but they did not draw well so he quit trying. Chuck Amati ran t one of those nights, I was introduced to him by Joe. He was honest about the track and said he didn't care for the pavement.

hey hound----I have 2 of my 3 mods ready---it took a lot of work and lots of new parts----OK I lie--I charged the batteries -primed the carbs and they fired up as if I had shut them off yesterday---since this may be close to the end of the line for me I am going back to my old no..25
