Late Models at ATPR

I have had today alone received five telephone calls with the question "how in the world are you going to run both Late Models and Sprints on the same nightly program". I thought wow what has stirred this topic all at once. I was approached by some Late Model drivers and die-hard fans which ask if I would at least try the Late Models and see if they would stay consistent with a weekly count that would justify having them each week. I was very reluctant to try it, but due to the request both from the local fans and some of the drivers from the southern illinois and southeast missouri area I chose to put them on the regular show and give them a try and see if it works. As long as the local fans support me on the decision and the drivers that have committed support me we will be ok, but if they fail to be consistent with a car count that can not be justified then they will be remove from the weekly program. I hope it works and I'm the most important one that it has to be proven too, but due to all the request received I feel as a promoter it is worth trying and let's see what happens I will know in the very early stages of the season whether the Late Models are going to survive at Benton or not. I do know this the drivers I have talked with are tired of pulling the trailers up and down the roadway to a track and when they get there come up short handed because they did not have the financing or sponsorship some of these more competive teams have available to them, so is Benton an answer for them could be I don't know but I do know one thing they will receive UMP points at Benton just like any other UMP sanctioned track awards. I have always like to see the under-dog have an equal chance for a piece of the pie at the end and Benton might just be the place to get that chance. Thanks in advance
