Benton, Mo; Auto Tire and Parts NAPA Racepark announced today that the Late Models have been removed from the weekly regular program effective immediately. This is the third time over the twelve year history of the racepark that the Late Model class has been tried at the facility on the regular season schedule and did not work. "The decision made was just strictly economics and nothing else. It is very hard to run the Late Model class when you also have the Sprint cars on your weekly show at the same time. When some drivers approached me back in the winter and requested that I give the Late Models a try at the racepark, I told them I would but they would have to consistently maintain a 15-20 car count of that class each night, and we tried it and it didn't work and now we must move on", Promoter Jerry Wolsey said.

The Late Model class will run at least two special events at the
Auto Tire and Parts NAPA Racepark later on this summer. "The Late Model drivers that did attend the weekly shows since opening night April 5th did an outstanding job and performed well", Wolsey said. Racing action will resume at ATPR this Saturday night May 10th with the Outlaw Wing Sprints, UMP Modifieds, Street Stock, and Cruisers. Races get underway at 7:00 P.M.
