Lebanon I-44 Prepares for 21st Season of Racing/Opener on April 3

Lebanon,Mo.-The high-banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway will swing into full action this Sat Night as it opens its 21st season of local racing action with the gates opening at 5PM,and the actual battles begin at 7:30 sharp with 6 classes and an expected field of over 100 cars to compete.

With the track completing its first season back on the clay surface,the fans will be seeing plenty of side-by-side action as the LateModels,Modifieds,FactoryStocks,SuperStocks,Bombers and the Winged Sprint Cars of the MidWest Limited Sprint Car Association will be in action.

The early season practices have saw many new faces along with some of your favorites racing again this season.The track underwent and workover this winter and proved to be in true form as the surface was smooth as ever.

Defending Champions Brad Looney(LateModels),Erik Maggard(Modifieds),Quintin Day(FactoryStocks),Mike Joplin(SuperStocks),and Gary Klossner(Bombers) will have there hands full in defending the track titles this season as many drivers have switched classes,and others are returning.

The Winged Sprints will be headed up by defending champion Eric Todd.Todd looked especially quick in the last practice session Sat Night.

3 MARS Super LateModels races and the Touring United States Modified Series will bring in top notch competition to compete against the locals on there home turf.Also on July 3rd,the track will have its regular Fireworks Show as a full night of racing with a beautiful Fireworks Show in the evening as this tradition is the only place in Laclede County that has the Fireworks.

With the purse that the track pays in the LateModel Class,many of the traveling MARS drivers have been known to stop in at I-44 to not only tune-up on the track,but to go for the top prize money against the weekly racers.

The track is located off I-44 on Exit 135 and on historic Route 66 and features a 3/8ths mile clay oval with over 18 degrees of banking providing great side-by-side racing every Sat Night from April through Sept as the season ending Bill Willard Memorial will attract the nation's top dirt track drivers as last season over 75,000 in purse money was paid out with Bill Frye claiming the 10,000 first place money.
