Ledgerwood Trucking Sponsors Full Program at West Plains Motor Speedway

Donnie and Bev Ledgerwood, owners of Ledgerwood Trucking out of Birch Tree, MO, sponsored the full weekly racing program at West Plains Motor Speedway this week. An exciting program got underway after the opening ceremonies where the Ledgerwood sponsored #9 Youth Hobby Stock, driven by Ben Ledgerwood and the #9 IMCA Modified driven by Carmon Vincent, along with Donnie Ledgerwood in a company semi-truck, all donned display flags and participated in the parade lap during the National Anthem.

Highly competitive heats quickly brought the program to the point of features. During the Youth Hobby Stock feature Ben Ledgerwood made a return appearance to Victory Lane and picked up the winner's honors of the night. Bobby Skinner of Moody, MO, gave his a good race with Chris Ratterree of Mtn. Grove, MO, close behind. Rounding out the field was Nikita Curtner of West Plains and Eric Butler of Moody, MO. These young drivers are age 13-15 yrs. old and have a great time competiting.

The Hobby Stock feature got underway and early in the event a single car mishap left Kevin Burton of Hardy, AR, with injuries that warranted him being transported to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. Burton underwent surgery Sunday morning and is reported to be in stable condition, a full recovery is anticipated. After more than a 1 1/2 hour delay the feature resumed and Rick Buie of Batesville took the win with Bobby Bryant of West Plains coming in second. Rounding out the top five were Tyson Troutman of Houston, Chuck Russell of West Plains and Donnie Miller of Houston.

The remainder of the field in order of their finish: Joey Smith, Greg Lute, Rick Cooper, Russell Truitt, Dexter Frost, Chris Murray, Toby Goodwin, Brian Ratliff, Kirk Hutchings, Bill Martin, Brad Gayer, Keith Hamilton, Tom McCrackin, Kevin Burton, James Mayfield, Willy Walker, Keith Cain, Allen Hatch.

The IMCA Modified feature went flag to flag without a caution and Kevin Salter of Batesville made a repeat appearance as feature winner taking full honors. Rounding out the top five were Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat, AR, Carmon Vincent of Moody, MO, Scott Crigler of Alton, MO and Bryan McKee of Mtn. Home, AR.

The balance of the field included: Bill Adams, Billy Romans, Dicky Jackson, John Mostrom, Rustin Miller, Danny Peterson, Richard Egan, Jamel Korkis, Don Marsh, Kevin Collins, Phillip Murphy, Mike Phillips, Fred Scarbrough, Denny Dennison, Lonnie Judd, Marty Toten, Clarence Story, Jason Story, Brian Judd and Trent Cockrum.

A newcomer, Craig Mintz of Humbolt, KS, won the Super Stock feature with Dave Wallace of Theodosia, MO, close behind. The top five included Stan Ellison of West Plains, Derald Kelly of Birch Tree, MO, and Bill Dixon of Thayer, MO.

Other finishing in order included: Heath Davenport, Tim Brown, Jesse Brotherton, Chris Moser, Andy Collins, Todd Kelly, Bobbye Williams, Shay Stacy, Mike Blissenbach, Kevin Grissum, Bobby Ratterree, Dee Kelly, Kenny Carroll and Darren Fox.

Cruiser class winner was Bill Johns of Hardy, AR, with Chris Skinner of South Fork, MO, Bill Harden, Michael Lewis and Donald Collins, all of West Plains rounding out the top five.

The remaining drivers in order of their finish included: Mike Butler, David Collins, Jerry Riley, Shawn Williams, Jason Lohner, Shane Hill, Nick Ellison and Edgar Scantlin.

Brad Sanders of West Plains won the Front Wheel Drive feature and made his first appearance on Victory Lane this season. Other top finishers included David Elms of Paragould, AR, Brian Wharton of Willow Springs, MO, Chris Johnson of West Plains and Robert Jamison of West Plains.

The remainder of the field included: Truman Poole, David Lute, Jerry Doane and Rodney Ely.

Next week's events will kick off on Thursday with the first round of qualifying for the 5th Annual Sunoco and Simon's Petroleum Firecracker Weekend. This will be three night of qualifying with the finale on Saturday night for Super Stock paying $5,000 to win, Hobby Stock paying $500 to win, and Cruiser paying $500 to win.
