Laurel, Mississippi (08/20/14) – Leon Henderson enjoyed his best outing of the 2014 season on Saturday night with a charge through the pack to a fifth place finish with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) at Jackson Motor Speedway in his L&D Trucking #10 Victory Circle/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Henderson went into competition with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) on Saturday evening at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) in the Doyle Lott Memorial. Twenty-three entries were on hand for the $2,500-to-win affair, and Leon started his night with a fifth place finish in the b-main. As a result he started eighteenth in the main event. Despite starting near the back of the pack, Henderson climbed through the field to record a fifth place finish at the checkered flag behind race winner, Chris Wall, David Breazeale, Chad Thrash, and Henry Cooper.
"Our team really needed a run like that," said Henderson. "The car was just phenomenal, and to be able to advance thirteen spots felt really good. Hopefully we can carry our momentum into this weekend.
Leon is eighth in the latest series standings. Full results from the event are available at www.StateSeries.com
Henderson returns to action with the MSSCS this weekend, August 22nd-23rd with a pair of $3,000-to-win events at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) and Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). More information on the events can be obtained at www.StateSeries.com .
