LOLMDS Ready for Roaring Knob and Hagerstown

WAYCROSS, GA (April 17, 2012) – The Lucas Oil Late ModelDirt Series will again travel to the northeast this weekend and visit RoaringKnob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA and Hagerstown (MD) Speedway for apair of $10,000 to win events this upcoming weekend.

On Friday Night, April 20th the series will visit theRick Jones-promoted Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex for the second year in arow. Last year in the inaugural visit bythe LOLMDS a record-setting crowd was on hand to witness two-time serieschampion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN take the victory. Bloomquist won his first LOLMDS event of 2012this past weekend at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway winning the $25,000to win Commonwealth 100 after he started 18[SUP]th[/SUP].

On Saturday Night, April 21st the nation’s biggest starsand cars of the LOLMDS will take to one of the most historic tracks in all of dirtlate model racing. The LOLMDS will visit Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedwayfor the 31[SUP]st[/SUP] Annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic. The event will mark the seventh time theLOLMDS has visited the half-mile facility in Hagerstown, MD. In a memorable race last year, JohnBlankenship of Williamson, WV came from the 17[SUP]th[/SUP] starting spot towin his first career LOLMDS race. Withthe win Blankenship became the sixth different winner in the six eventssanctioned by the series at Hagerstown.

Jimmy Owens continues to lead the nation’s premiernational championship point’s standings with a slim lead over Don O’Neal. Steve Francis, Jonathan Davenport and EarlPearson Jr. round out the top five in the series points standings heading intothis weekend’s events. A strong group of regional and local late model racersare expected to be competing at both events this weekend. The LOLMDS stars willhave their hands full as some of the toughest competitors at defending theirhome tracks will be ready when the LOLMDS rolls into PA and MD this weekend.

There will be a complete show both nights with Red BuckCigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a $10,000 to win main event. Joining the LOLMDS at Roaring Knob will bethe FASTRAK Pro Late Models paying $1,200 to win. Hagerstown Speedway will have a special PureStock feature event to go along with the LOLMDS main event on Saturday night.
