Michael Long, Jason Frankel, Terry Houston and Jake Powers all scored feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, August 9 during Dunker Concrete Construction Night at the Races.

Thirty Four UMP Modifieds checked in to do battle in the $3000 to Win Gem City UMP Modified Shootout for the Miller Lite Modifieds, with several top name drivers from other tracks competing but it was local standout, Michael Long keeping the big check in town. Long drew the pole position for the main event and was never headed on his way to the checkered flag but only 1.009 seconds separated him for second place finisher Vance Wilson. Tommy Seets Jr. Held the second spot behind Long for the first twelve circuits with Shawn Deering challenging. Deering got By Seets for second on lap thirteen and pressed to within a car length of Long until a war broke out for the top three spots as Vance Wilson joined in the battle. Long held off Deering with Wilson challenging at every opportunity until getting past Deering for second on the thirty sixth lap. Wilson then set sail for Long but had to settle for second as Long was just too strong as the checkered flag fell on lap forty. Deering held on for third followed by Steven DeLonjay in fourth and 2008 UMP Modified National Champion Jeff Leka in fifth. DeLonjay scored a $200 bonus as the Dunker Concrete Construction Hard Charger of the race; DeLonjay started in the twenty third spot and advanced his position the most in finishing fourth. The four heat race winners were Michael Long, Dustin Bandeloecht, Kendall Watkins and Steve Maisel. Kevin Weaver and Robbie Reed took the B-Main wins with Donovan Lodge taking the Advance Trading Trophy Dash Series win. Justin Reed holds a 1004 to 932 point lead over Steven DeLonjay.

Jason Frankel piloted the #79 of Robbie Warner for the second week in a row and made it pay off as he came from the third row to take the win in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event. Frankel grabbed the lead on the second lap and held off Matt Bailey for the first sixteen laps as Mark Burgtorf worked his way into the runner up position. Burgtorf challenged Frankel until the checkered flag fell on lap thirty but had to settle for second by a margin of .762 of a second. Denny Woodworth charged into the third spot followed by Matt Bailey in fourth and Joey Gower in fifth. Frankel and Woodworth were the heat race winners with Frankel making it a clean sweep by taking the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. Lonnie Bailey now holds a 548 to 547 point margin over Justin Reed in the chase for the Track Points Championship.

Terry Houston won his series leading fourth feature win of the 2009 season in the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car main event. Aaron Brocksieck challenged Houston the entire twenty lap event but had to settle for the second spot by .238 of a second at the checkered flag. Jerry Jansen scored the third position followed by Steve Steinkuhler in fourth and Kevin Tomlinson in fifth. Steinkuhler and Michael Larsen were the heat race wins. Kevin Tomlinson has 542 points to 536 for Chris Wibbell and 534 for Abe Huls in the race to the Track Points Championship.

Steven Watkins Jr. lead the first seventeen laps of the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock feature event but it was Rookie Jake Powers who blasted past for the lead on lap eighteen for the lead. Watkins tried in vain to regain the lead but crossed the line in second as Powers won his first ever feature event. Steve Carlin scored third with Mike Wiley in fourth and Nathan Hayes in fifth. Jim Powell and Andrew Griffin were the heat race winners. Nathan Anders claimed the engine of Steve Carlin with both drivers exchanging engines. Carlin and Jim Powell are now tied with 628 points each in the Track Points Championship.
