Bolivar,Mo.-Republic,Missouri driver Brad Looney showed that his opening night win at Lebanon last week was no fluke as he took the season opening night victory in the Late Model Class at Bolivar Speedway before a stellar field of Late Models.

On the start-Rusty Dukes jumped from his front row pole position only to have the red flag wave as Dave Ware collected the wall in turn 1.On the restart,Dukes once again jumped out over Dustim Mooneyham to set a blistering pace on the clay oval.Looney who started 5th on the 19 car grid gathered-up the runner-up spot from mooneyham and set his sights on leader Dukes and made the pass on lap 7 of the 25 lap main event with Dukes giving hard battles. The real battles on the track behind the leaders included Mooneyham,Ken Essary,Chad Clark, and Brandon McCormick as early contender and 2002 Wheatland Late Model Champ Melvin Smith started to fall back.As the checkered flew,it was Looney with his second overall victory of the young Missouri Racing season, followed by Dukes,Mooneyham,Essary, and a hard-charging McCormick.

"We weren't real strong in the heat race, but the car started to come along in the later parts,so after the heat we made some small adjustments and they paid off. This GRT/Hatfield combo is tough to beat, and after the seasons I've had in the last couple of years-this is wonderful!"

In the Mighty Modified feature-Wheatland veteran Scotty Allen took early control with a hard charging Eric Maggard moving quickly to the front. On lap 4,Jason Meadors came to a halt in turn 4,bringing out the yellow. As Allen slowed,Jesse Stovall had trouble stopping and collected the race leader giving the lead to Maggard with J.D.Kelley now in the runner-up spot.On the restart, Maggard would find Kelley giving him problems until lap 7 when Kelley lost a radiator hose taking him out of contention. From there Maggard sailed to a big lead with Eric Lampe,Jamie Ragland, and Kevin Marrow in a dogfight for the runner-up honors. They finished that away with early contender Stovall coming up to 5th.

The Superstock feature was a wild affair as local hotshoe Richard Thiessan had troubles on the start along with Stacey Hall, and letting Pleasant Hope's Jared Brown pulling away to the lead until lap 13,when Brown's motor let go ending his bid for his first ever feature win.On the final 2 laps,Jerry Ross, and Fred McAdams battled it out to the finish with Ross taking the win over McAdams and Halfway's Dewayne Hobbs third.

The Factorystock feature would find 18 out of 21 cars making the call as third generation driver Sean Williams took the early lead with Burl Woods in hot pursuit. They ran bumper to bumper until lap 13 when Woods found problems in turn 4 taking him out. From there Williams gathered the win followed by I-44 point leader Tom Gerleve,Brian Stewart,Dylan Keeper, and Darrin Crisler.
The Bomber feature was pretty much a flag-to flag win for Jamie Wicker after taking the lead on lap 2.Following Wicker was 13 year old Mike Maggard, early leader Jimmy Bellamy,Jeff Scroggins, and Danny Maples.

The Pro-4's had an exciting battle as Lonnie Muhlbauer lead for the 1st 9 laps of the 12 lap feature, and then Ken jones pulled the pass on the high side of turn 4 to gather the win followed by Karl Jones,Muhlbauer,Rick Metcalf, and Don Lacey.

88 cars checked into the pits for Bolivar's Opening night, one of the more successful ones in many seasons as the track stayed tacky, and fast all night long.

Racing continues next Friday Night with the gates opening at 5PM,Hotlaps around 6:50 and racing at 7:30
