CORONA, CA (July 15, 2009) - Racing before two packed houses last weekend the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series brings its road show to two tracks very familiar to the series drivers this weekend. Friday Night, July 17th will be the "Budweiser 50" at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL followed by the "CMH Late Model Showdown" on Saturday Night, July 18th at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. Both events will pay $10,000 to win.

With 25 races in the books and 18 still remaining this season, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to Illinois and Missouri with 19 different winners this year and 421 different drivers whom have raced with the series at least once in 2009.

National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN continues to top the championship point's standings. Last weekend Bloomquist fought through a heat race incident at North Alabama and mechanical issues at Magnolia Motor Speedway and still holds a 275 point lead heading into this weekend. He earned the PBM/Erson Cams Hard Charger of the Race at North Alabama finishing eighth after starting 17th. At Magnolia, despite starting on the tail of his heat race; he finished fourth and started 16th in the main event before finishing sixth in the final rundown.

Also coming into the events this weekend at Tri-City and Wheatland, there is a tie for second in points between 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr of Jacksonville, FL and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA. Both veteran drivers pilot cars for NASCAR Cup drivers Bobby Labonte (Pearson) and Clint Bowyer (McDowell). Friday Night is NASCAR Night at Tri-City Speedway with veteran NASCAR driver Kenny Schrader on hand to battle the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is fourth in points, only twenty behind Pearson and McDowell. Don O'Neal, coming off of his first series win of '09, is now up to fifth in the championship point's standings.

The remainder of the top ten coming into the 26th and 27th events of the season, are Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY; Eric Jacobsen of Seacliffe Beach, CA; and Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI.

John Blankenship of Williamson, WV is the top driver right now in the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" chase for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, but his points lead has been cut down by second place driver in the rookie standings, David Breazeale of Four Corners, MS. The difference is 220 points. Michael Walker of Franklin, TN is third in the rookie point's chase.
