Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Makes First Appearance at Wythe Raceway May 15th

CORONA, CA (May 6, 2010) - Make plans now for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series "Must See" appearance at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA on Saturday Night, May 15th. The Fred Brown promoted facility will host one of the biggest races in the track's history with a complete show for the LOLMDS including Red Buck Cigars Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the $10,000 to win/$700 to start main event.

Wythe Raceway is rolling out the red carpet for all fans and drivers coming to this "Must See" event. There will be extra parking with attendants, shuttle service to and from parking areas, great racing, and some good old fashion hospitality. This "Must See" event at Wythe Raceway on May 15th is stop number five on the 2010 Sunoco Race Fuels "Road to Wheatland" Tour. The Sunoco Race Fuels "Road to Wheatland" tour offers 20 drivers with perfect attendance $700 in winner's circle money that will be paid to the drivers through the DART "Show-Me 100" scheduled for Memorial Day weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.

Defending series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN has seen his points lead cut to just five points by the hottest driver on the LOLMDS tour, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN. Owens has won the last two Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events walking away with over $20,000 on winnings. Trailing the Bloomquist Racecars pilots are 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, who is tied for third place in points with 2-time series runner-up, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN. Chris Wall of Holden, LA currently resides in fifth place in the championship points standings; he also leads the Quarter Master "Rookie of the year" point's standings.

The remainder of the top ten heading to Virginia next weekend are former Hav-A-Tampa Champion, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA who drives for NASCAR's Clint Bowyer; former World 100 winner, Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; former Eldora Dirt Late Model Dream Winner, Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; 2009 Hillbilly 100 Champions Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; and Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN.

The top twenty in points also includes 2009 UMP Champion, Jason Feger of Bloomington, IL; Eric Wells of Hazard, KY; 3-time Summernationals Champion, Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, IL; Will Vaught of Crane, MO; Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS; Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, WI; Mike Collins of Council Bluffs, IA; and Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA.

Also competing for the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year' Championship are Wells, Vaught, and Isenberg. The Quarter Master "Rookie of the year" Award pays $10,000, and second place will pay $4,500 courtesy of Sweet Manufacturing.
