Be here Tuesday, July 26th to see who wins the 3rd Annual St. Louis U Pic A Part 100!

Best In Late Model Racing Set For Macon IL Speedway
Saturday's Kerbystrong To Be Followed By Lucas Oil Late Models Tuesday

July is the month of big events at Macon IL Speedway, especially for those in the Super Late Model world. It all started with the UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour on Thursday, July 7 with the Herald & Review 100, when tour champion Bobby Pierce picked up the victory. It all resumes this coming Saturday, July 23 with the 2nd Annual Kerbystrong and ends on Tuesday, July 26 with the Lucas Oil Late Models in the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100.

This Saturday's Kerbystrong 100 will feature 50 laps of Late Model racing for the Midwest Big Ten Late Models, paying $2,000 to win and $250 to start. A Billingsley Towing UMP Modified 25 lap feature will pay $700 to win and a 25 lap Sportsman feature will be run with a $600 top prize. Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Hornets will also be in action.

The race is in memory of Kerby Damery, a former Late Model racer at Macon Speedway and surrounding tracks in central Illinois. The 2004 Late Model track champion passed away in early 2015, after a long battle with cancer. The event also was put together to raise cancer awareness and to give hope to cancer patients and educate the community.

Last year's race saw 34 Super Late Models and strong fields in the other classes as well. After a back and forth battle with Dave Crawley, Jr., Tonica, IL driver, Scott Schmitt pulled away with the Late Model victory. Crawley did claim the Modified top prize, while Dennis Vandermeersch took the Sportsman win.

As if Saturday's action isn't enough, the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series will be coming to town just a few days later, on Tuesday, July 26 for the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100. The race was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 30 but was canceled due to rain. The makeup event should be huge, with all of the Lucas Oil stars coming in to compete against locals from the region vying for the $12,000 top prize. The Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds and B-Mods will also be on the card.

Last year, the Lucas Oil event ended with Newport, TN driver, Jimmy Owens, in victory lane. Bloomington, IL driver, Jason Feger, took second, while Moweaqua, IL's Shannon Babb took third. This year's UMP Summer National champion, Bobby Pierce, led until lap 58 when he had to pit because of a flat tire. Pierce, coming off of the Herald & Review 100 win earlier this month, will be the favorite to find victory lane this Tuesday.

The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series will be led to town by Scott Bloomquist, who has had an outstanding season thus far. Bloomquist has built a 200+ point lead on Jonathan Davenport, who has some unreal numbers over the last year. Jared Landers, central Illinois favorite Brandon Sheppard, and Tim McCreadie round out the top five. Dennis Erb, Jr., Darrell Lanigan, Don O'Neal, Jimmy Owens, and Earl Pearson, Jr. complete the top ten in current Lucas Oil points.

The Saturday, July 23 Kerbystrong 100 event will have pits opening at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, competitor pill draw will end at 5:50, hotlaps will start at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 11 and under.

On Tuesday, July 26 for the Lucas Oil Late Model event, the times will remain the same with general admission being $30 for adults and $5 for kids 11 and under.

Who is going to win this big event? Does Bobby Pierce or Jimmy Owens become a repeat winner? Does Brandon Sheppard or Dennis Erb Jr. capture the win for the LOLMDS drivers representing the state of Illinois? Does Scott Bloomquist continue his hot streak and pick up another victory? Does Jonathan Davenport pick up ground in the points chase and score the W? Or does a regional driver like Shannon Babb, Jason Feger, or Ryan Unzicker come in and score the W? Could a local score a monumental upset, like Kyle Logue, Brian Diveley, Greg Kimmons, McKay Wenger, or someone else? Be at Macon Tuesday to find out, and share what you think is going to happen!

Bloomquist, Davenport, & Others To Take On Pierce Tuesday At Macon IL Speedway
Lucas Oil Late Model Series Drivers Race For $12,000 Top Prize

When it comes to the top names of Super Late Model racing on dirt, many fans think of Scott Bloomquist, Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Sheppard, Don O'Neal, Steve Francis, Jimmy Owens, Jason Feger, Shannon Babb, and of course, Bobby Pierce. It doesn't end there, and it won't end this Tuesday night at Macon IL Speedway where all of the top names converge to battle for a $12,000 top prize in the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

The wanted man will likely be Oakwood, IL star Bobby Pierce. Pierce had another unbelievable Summer Nationals, winning 10 out of the 22 events and claiming the championship in convincing fashion. One of those wins took place at Mighty Macon Speedway in the Herald & Review 100. Pierce was dominant on that night, cruising to victory as much as one can cruise at a venue as wild as the 1/5-mile speedplant. The young wheelman also led a major portion of the Lucas Oil event last year before a flat hurt his chances.

His biggest challenger may be one of the most famous racers in the history of dirt tracks, Scott Bloomquist. While the veteran driver doesn't have the best record at Macon Speedway, this year could be a little different as he has been on a roll in 2016. In addition to leading the standings by 280 over Jonathan Davenport, Bloomquist has won nine events on the '16 tour, including five of the last eight. He's looking for his third championship with the tour but his first since winning back-to-back in 2009-2010.

While we are at it, let's talk a bit about Jason Feger. Always a threat no matter where he runs, Feger made a visit this past weekend to dial in his #25 and claim the top prize in the Kerbystrong 100 at Macon. Feger looked dominant for a while before speedway regular, Guy Taylor, stepped it up a notch and raced by. Not to be denied, Feger found a little more to reclaim the lead late in the race to go on to an exciting victory. Interesting to see whether Feger will use any knowledge gained from Saturday to pick up speed and consistency on Tuesday night.

While it's hard to pinpoint who fans can expect to see at the front of the field when the checkered waves on lap 100, we all know that guys like Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Sheppard, Don O'Neal, Steve Francis, Jimmy Owens, and of course, the Mowequa Missile, Shannon Babb will be contenders. Owens claimed the win last year and was followed by Feger, Devin Moran, Babb, and Ryan Unzicker. Pierce was leading the event before suffering a flat tire on lap 58.

In addition to the Super Late Model class, the Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds and UMP B-Mods will be in action, coming off of good events this past weekend. The B-Mod bounty is up to $100 if someone can beat Tim Hancock in the B-Mod division. Hancock, who is 9 for 9 this year, must finish the race for the bounty to be claimed.

Tuesday, July 26 pit gates will open at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, Mod and B-Mod pill draw will end at 5:50, hotlaps will begin at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Tickets will be available at the gates for a price of $30 for adults and $5 for kids 11 and under.

Tony Stewart Just Named Grand Marshall For Macon Speedway Lucas Oil Event
Tuesday Racing Will Also Feature Wallace And Schrader In Modifieds

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event this coming Tuesday, July 26 at Macon IL Speedway keeps getting bigger and bigger. In addition to a stout field of drivers racing for the $12,000 top prize in the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100, Tony Stewart has been named as Grand Marshall for the event and two of the other partners in the Macon Speedway ownership group, Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader will also be there, racing in the Billingsley Towing UMP Modified division.

For Tony Stewart, it will be his first visit to Macon in a couple of years. Stewart is in the middle of his farewell season on the NASCAR Sprint Cup tour, recently winning an event and running very well over the last few races. The three-time Sprint Cup champion is the owner of the Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit Of Champions series and Eldora Speedway, in addition to his Macon partnership. Stewart was just inducted into the USAC Hall of Fame last Thursday night at Lucas Oil Speedway, during a Track Enterprises event.

As if the Billingsley Towing UMP Modified division hasn't been good enough lately, it will get even better Tuesday night when Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader make appearances. Wallace has made a couple of appearances at Macon this year, coming away with a third place finish on Memorial Day, while finishing fifth at the Summit Nationals event in July. For Schrader, he has made just one appearance this year and brought home a second place finish.

The three NASCAR stars are co-owners of Macon Speedway with managing partner, Bob Sargent. The entered the partnership in the mid 2000's to help keep racing alive and well in Central Illinois.

Tuesday night's festivities get underway with pits opening at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, Modified and B-Mod pill draw ending at 5:50, hotlaps begin at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Grandstand admission will be available at the gates at $30 for adults and free for kids 11 and under.
