"The Hickory Run Nationals"
Lucas Oil Speedway - Wheatland, MO
May 25, 2008

The "A" Mods were the stars Saturday night in front of a record crowd at the inaugural Hickory Run Nationals. 4,500 plus fans joined us on this special Memorial Day weekend and they were not disappointed.

"You never know what to expect for crowd count on a holiday," said Kevin Greven, General Track Manager. "But I think we may have set a Memorial Day weekend attendance record here tonight."

It was four wide plus racing in all three classes beginning with the Transport Graphics Factory Stocks. Kris Jackson, Burl Woods and Jim Reeves made it to the AAA Winner's Circle. For Jackson, it was his 3rd win on the season and another in a long line of great Factory Stock races from the pole to the back row. Hard charger of the night goes to Rookie Chip Shaddox who started 18th and picked up the first top 10 finish of his career as he took the checkered in 8th.

In the Miller Lite ULMA Late Models, James Rutledge edged out Rylan Long, 2007 ULMA Track Champion. The win denies Long what was nearly his fourth straight win at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks this season. Byron Allison joined Rutledge and Long in the AAA Winner's Circle. JD Hubert takes the hard charger award tonight starting dead last in an extended field of 27 cars and finishing just out of the top 10 in 11th place.

Finally the night's stars took to a very fast track to put the finishing touches on the Hickory Run Nationals. After being close several times this season, Johnny Bone Jr. from Pea Ridge, AR put the number 12 car in the Winner's Circle. Dustin Boney edged out Jesse Stovall for second after starting in 20th, Justin Boney took 4th from a 19th place start and Wheatland's own Todd Kallweit rounded out the top 5 coming from 17th.

"Seeing 3 cars in the top 5 from that far back says a lot about both the drivers and the track," ended Greven. "They were both awesome all night, right down to the last lap."

Coming up this weekend we shift gears (literally) as we go off-road racing. It's the E3 Spark Plugs Show-Me State Showdown featuring the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing tour in the first two rounds of their 2008 Season. Saturday May 31st they run under the lights for the first time ever and Round 2 on Sunday June 1st is an afternoon show. For more information log to LucasOilSpeedway.com
