Batesville, Arkansas (April 19th, 2006) For the first time in 2006, the stars and cars of the Mid America Racing Series will leave the state of Missouri, as they converge on the state-of-the-art, Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky.
Four events into the season Wendell Wallace sits atop the M.A.R.S. point’s standings. He will lead a strong cast of competitors into battle including Terry Phillips (Missouri), Bill Frye (Arkansas), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Jeff Floyd (Arkansas), Justin Wells (Missouri), Steve Rushin (Missouri), Dane Dacus (Tennessee), Jeff Taylor (Arkansas), Billy James (Missouri), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Joey Mack (Missouri), Todd Hall (Missouri), and many more.
The M.A.R.S. Rookie chase is also starting to heat up with Will Vaught (Missouri) currently maintaining a slim lead over Jordan Jones (Arkanas).
Thus far into the 2006 season, there have been three different winners on the tour with Wendell Wallace claiming two wins, and Bill Frye and Randy Korte each claiming one.
The tour is also coming off one of the most successful weekend’s ever as M.A.R.S. competed in a pair of challenge events with the U.M.P. sanction. Near record crowds were reported over the weekend with great car counts both nights. Seven more M.A.R.S./UMP Challenge events are scheduled for this season.
This Saturday night, April 22nd the M.A.R.S. competitors head to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky. This will be the first of three visits for the M.A.R.S. racers at KLMS. The event will pay $3,000 to win and $500 to start. The pit gate opens at 12:00 with the draw ending at 6:00. Racing action is set for 7:00. Grandstand gates open at 4:00. Adult grandstand admission is $15 with children 12 and under free. Pit admission is $30.
