M.A.R.S. Kicks Off ’06 Season With Show-Me State Double Header

Batesville, Arkansas (April 3, 2006) – After a long winter’s rest, the stars and cars of the Mid America Racing Series are set to kick off the season with a double header in the state of Missouri.

2006 is shaping up to be another great season with 2005 Champion, Terry Phillips (Missouri), headlining the list of drivers returning to the M.A.R.S. tour for another season. Phillips has amassed three series’ titles to date, and will be looking for an unprecedented fourth championship. Bill Frye (Arkansas), who also owns three series’ titles will be looking to stop Phillips in his tracks. Other drivers, who are expected to compete for the championship in 2006 include Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Steve Rushin (Missouri), Gary Stolba (Missouri), Joey Mack (Missouri), Jeff Floyd (Arkansas), Justin Wells (Missouri), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Dane Dacus (Tennessee), Billy James (Missouri) and many more.

The drivers chasing the coveted Rookie of the Year title in 2006 are already starting to line up and include Jordan Jones (Arkansas), Will Vaught (Missouri), and Christian Rayburn (Missouri). There are a few other drivers, who may also drop their names into the race depending on the results from the season opening weekend.

Night #1 of the double header will see the Martians head invade Don and Billie Gibson’s speedplant in West Plains, Missouri on Saturday, April 8th. West Plains Motor Speedway is located 6 Miles South of West Plains, MO on US Highway 63. Gates will open at 5:00 with hot laps at 6:30 with racing at 7 pm. Adult admission is $15, kids 7-11 are $5, and 6 & under are free. Pit passes are $30. This will also be a full points program for weekly race classes. Night #2 of the double header will find the M.A.R.S. competitors rolling into Monett, Missouri for a Sunday night showdown in the tri-state area at Monett Speedway on Sunday, April 9th.
