M.A.R.S. Ozark Rumble on tap this Weekend!

Batesville, Arkansas (August 23, 2004) – After a week off for the 12th Annual Competition Cams Topless 100, the stars and cars of the O’Reilly Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) will roar back into action as they thunder through the Ozark Mountains with a double header this weekend.

Heading into this weekend’s events Terry Phillips has built a solid lead over Jeff Taylor for the series’ top spot in points. Wendell Wallace sits in the third spot with Bill Frye in fourth, and Jeff Floyd holding down the fifth spot. Joey Mack, Peyton Taylor, Leslie Essary, Brad Looney, and Raymond Merrill round out the top ten in series’ points.

Five drivers have found their way into victory lane on the O’Reilly M.A.R.S. circuit in 2004 with Terry Phillips (9 wins), Wendell Wallace (4 wins), Jeff Taylor (2 wins), and Scott Drake (2 wins), and Bill Frye (1 win) each finding their way into victory lane. Rain has claimed the other ten events. Drivers looking to battle their way into victory lane for the first time this weekend include Brad Looney, Jeff Floyd, Joey Mack, Dewaine Hottinger, Peyton Taylor, Jerry Buck, Steve Rushin, Dustin Mooneyham, , Brandon McCormick, Jon Mitchell, Leslie Essary, Gary Stolba, and many more super late model stars of the Midwest.

Night #1 of the double header will find the M.A.R.S. competitors invading Bolivar Speedway in Bolivar, Missouri for the 2nd Annual Missouri Dirt Track Championship on Friday, August 27th. Scott Drake and Wendell Wallace have both picked up M.A.R.S. victories at Bolivar this year. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:30 at the Bolivar Speedway, with hot laps set for 7:00 and racing at 8:00. The track is located 3 miles south of Bolivar on State Road 13 to County Road "U", then west to frontage road. Go .3 miles south, then .5 miles west. Adult grandstand tickets are $15.00 and junior tickets are $5.00. Tier parking is available, where fans can enjoy the races from the comfort of their own cars for $20.00 for adults and $5.00 for juniors. Pit passes are $30.00. Night #2 of the double header will see the Martians making their second appearance of the 2004 season at Lake Ozark Speedway, which is a 3/8 mile clay oval in Eldon, Missouri, on Saturday, August 28th. The first event held earlier this year saw Scott Drake win his first ever M.A.R.S. event. Lake Ozark Speedway is located off of Highway 54 at the Highway 52 exit. The track is on the end of the frontage road on the south side of Highway 54. Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 7:00. Adult grandstand tickets are $15 and children 6 to 12 are $6. Pit passes are $30.
