Batesville, Arkansas (May 10, 2004) – After splitting a pair of events with Mother Nature, the stars and cars of the O’Reilly Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) will thunder back into action as they prepare to make a run through Oklahoma and Missouri this coming weekend

The M.A.R.S. tour has lost almost half of their dates in the early 2004 campaign to Mother Nature, but the shows that have been held have been earth-shattering. After five completed events, Wendell Wallace from Batesville, Arkansas resides on the top of the M.A.R.S. points. Wallace is the only repeat winner on the tour with two wins thus far. Wallace maintains an 18 point advantage over Al Purkey from Coffeyville, Kansas, who is making his first ever run at the M.A.R.S. title. Terry Phillips, Jeff Floyd, and Jeff Taylor round out the top five in points. Following the top five drivers into battle this weekend will be a host of hungry competitors including defending champion, Bill Frye. Frye won the season opener at Memphis Motorsports Park, but has had some troubles as of late. Frye currently sits sixth in the series points. Other drivers expected include Dewaine Hottinger, Peyton Taylor, Jack Sullivan, Shane Essary, Jon Mitchell, Brad Looney, Dustin Mooneyham, Brandon McCormick, Jerry Buck, Steve Rushin, Joey Mack, Leslie Essary, Gary Stolba, and many more super late model stars of the Midwest.
