M.a.r.s. Southwest Missouri Double Header This Weekend

Batesville, Arkansas (July 11, 2004) – After a week off the stars and cars of the O’Reilly Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) will roar back into action as they thunder through the Ozark Mountains with a double header this weekend.

Heading into this weekend’s events Wendell Wallace continues to hold a small lead over Terry Phillips for the series’ top spot in points. Jeff Floyd has climbed into the third spot with Jeff Taylor in fourth, and defending series’ champion, Bill Frye, holding down the fifth spot. Leslie Essary, Brad Looney, Joey Mack, Peyton Taylor, and Raymond Merrill round out the top ten in series’ points.

Five drivers have found their way into victory lane on the O’Reilly M.A.R.S. circuit in 2004 with Wendell Wallace (4 wins), Terry Phillips (4 wins), Bill Frye (1 win), Jeff Taylor (1 win), and Scott Drake (1 win) each finding their way into victory lane. Rain has claimed the other seven events. Drivers looking to battle their way into victory lane for the first time this weekend include Brad Looney, Jeff Floyd, Joey Mack, Dewaine Hottinger, Peyton Taylor, Jerry Buck, Steve Rushin, Dustin Mooneyham, , Brandon McCormick, Jon Mitchell, Leslie Essary, Gary Stolba, and many more super late model stars of the Midwest.

Night #1 of the double header will find the M.A.R.S. competitors invading Bolivar Speedway in Bolivar, Missouri for a $3,000 to win feature event on Friday, July 16th. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:30 at the Bolivar Speedway, with hotlaps set for 7:00 and racing at 8:00. The track is located 3 miles south of Bolivar on State Road 13 to County Road "U", then west to frontage road. Go .3 miles south, then .5 miles west.

Night #2 of the double header will find the M.A.R.S. competitors rolling into Lebanon Speedway Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri in an event that will see the super late model pilots battling for a $3,000 top prize on Saturday, July 17th. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:00pm at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway, with hotlaps set for 6:45 and racing at 7:30. The track is located 6 miles northeast of Lebanon on I-44 to exit 135 (Sleeper exit). Go north to outer drive, then west 1.1 miles on historic Route 66 (frontage road).

Tickets are priced the same at both tracks, with adult tickets priced at $15.00 and junior tickets are $5.00. Both tracks have backstretch tier parking, where fans can enjoy the races from the comfort of their own cars. Those prices are $20.00 for adults, and $5.00 for juniors. Pit passes will be $30.00 each night.
