(Macon, IL) The long standing superstition of no green at racing events will be put to the test as the green and white Meridian Hawks invade Macon Speedway. Macon Speedway is committed to providing wholesome family entertainment and supporting the local community. On Saturday, May 17, Macon Speedway welcomes the students and faculty of the Meridian School district. All students and faculty members will be admitted free with identification. Children 12 and under are always admitted free at Macon Speedway. Meridian School students sold tickets to the Meridian School night at the Speedway as a fundraiser. A portion of every ticket they sold will support future Meridian School activities and projects.

Adding to the already action-packed Saturday night race program will be a ”Crazy Chicks n Cars” race that was rescheduled due to the rain from last Saturday’s race. Ladies will take to the track in the 4-cylinder Hornet cars for the special event.

Next week Macon Speedway will play host to the Boy and Girl Scouts organizations. Every Boy or Girl Scout will be admitted into the race for free plus his or her parents will be admitted for ½ price. Come join in the fun and enter the pinewood derby that is open to all children, which will begin at 1:00 pm. Also on tap for May 24 will be Tramph the Clown and a special surprise for all the Macon Speedway kids! The Barbeck Modified division will be in action battling it out to see who will walk away with the top prize, $750!

Weekly racing at Macon Speedway features six UMP sanctioned divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock , Pro Hornet and Amateur Hornet.

On Saturday, May 17, gates at Macon Speedway will open at 5:00 PM. Racing starts at 7:30.

General Admission is $10.00 for weekly races at Macon Speedway. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Pit admission is $25. Full season reserved seats are still available. Contact the Speedway at 217-764-3000 for more information.
