macon speedway in 1952

thought some of you all would like to see macon in 1952. it doesnt look like that now and just to think of all the cars parking on the infeild . enjoy the pic

Amazing how the grounds have changed but the track looks much the same. I love seeing these old pictures and stories. Makes me wish I'd been around to see the start of it all.

Which side of the picture is the front stretch on? Because if it's on the left, they've clearly re-oriented the road outside the track, as it runs by the cemetery now.

yes that is the way it was about 3 years ago. now there is a street that might be just out of the pic, and there is a pit area on the south side of the track, and parking on the south east of the track. (and where ever else you can find it)

That picture was in 1952, did you notice the pond in the southwest corner, that is where my dad got the dirt to build the banks, The banks in the corners were built in 1950. We have another picture in 1946 when the track was built and from 1946 til 1950 it was flat. Over in the southwest corner there are cars buired there
