Loyet & King Win 5th Annual Dana Godfrey Memorial

Macon, IL – Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, MO led the final 15 laps of the 30 lap Dana Godfrey Memorial to win his 4th O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil Midget feature of the year. Derek King of Vienna, IL driving the Harris Racing Spike/Fontana started on the pole and paced the first 14 laps. On lap 15, Loyet moved past King from his 3rd row starting position to take the lead. Loyet would pace the field until a lap 27 yellow for Kody Swanson. On the restart, Loyet would continue to lead but not without pressure from King. King and Loyet would trade slide-jobs for the final three laps with Loyet making his move stick going into turn 1 of the final lap. Following Loyet and King at the line were Brad Kuhn, Michael Pickens and Gary “Bubba” Altig.

The O’Reilly POWRi Micro Sprints saw a field of 54 micro sprints vie for the 22 feature starting positions. Derek King of Vienna, IL, fresh off his battle with Loyet in the midget feature, battled Ryan Langston of Greenfield, IN for the first two laps and took the lead on lap 3 and never relinquished it. Yellows on lap 5 and also on lap 12 bunched the field. The very racy 1/5 mile saw two grooves of racing with King and Langston running the cushion while the rest of the field battled high and low for position. Following King and Langston at the line were Ryan Guyett, Tony Roney, and Kara King who also made her POWRi midget debut.
