After a successful tour through Southern Kentucky this past weekend, the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts head to Eastern Kentucky for some "Madness in the Mountains" this Friday Night, July 4 and Saturday Night, July 5. On Friday Night the series makes its first ever appearance at the Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY and on Saturday Night for the first time this season at the 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY. There will be a complete show for the Battle of the Bluegrass drivers with Racing Optics/Bullzilla Graphics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO B-Mains and the 40 lap PBM Performance A-main event each night carrying a combined purse of nearly $30,000 with $3000 going to the winner each night. The series was supposed to make a return visit to the Thunder Ridge Raceway in Prestonsburg, KY on Thursday Night, July 3 but the series was informed late last week that the track has closed.
After this past weekend's racing action there have been 9 different winners in 10 races for Kentucky's Premier Dirt Late Model Sanctioning Body. With a first ever visit to Mountain Motor Speedway on Friday Night there may be another opportunity for a driver to pull off their first series win of the season as very few of the BoB boys have ever raced at Isom. At 201 last years 2002 Series Champion, Eddie Carrier Jr picked up the feature victory. Both nights will be run under the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Rules and Procedures.
