Springfield,Mo.-Springfield's Erik Maggard got back on track Sat night at the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway in capturing the Budweiser A-Modified feature in a commanding performance.

"The car has been very fast, but something just hasn't been right." as the second generation Springfield area driver has struggled here in the last few weeks. The team must have found the problem as he took the lead from Jon Yeoman on lap 7 of a very fast paced feature event to grab his second feature win of the season as the Maggard name would be called several times during the racing action.

the start of the A-Mod feature saw former area driver Jim Piercy Jr grab the opening lead over Darrell Jackson as Yeoman and Maggard settled-in.On lap 3,Yeoman took over the top spot while Maggard followed in tow as defending champion Jackie Dalton, previous winner Scotty Drake,Jerry Lankton and current point lead Mitch Keeter were following.Caution flew on lap 6 as rookie Corey Weir spun in turn 3 bunching up the field. On the restart,Maggard picked the high groove and made the winning pass around Yeoman while Yeoman settled into second place. As Maggard began to pull away,Yeoman would find Drake,Dalton,Jody Tillman along with Keeter and a quick moving bobby Pearish challanging.Lap 13 found to be unlucky on Dalton as his car stalled high in turn 4 bringing out the yellow and ending his chance to gain on Keeter in the standings. On the restart,Maggard again placed the car wherever he wanted as Yeoman had a handful of Drake trying to move around him with Keeter,Tillman and Pearish battling.Maggard went on to record the win and is getting geared-up for the special events upcoming at SpringfieldRaceway.Following Maggard across the line was Yeoman,Drake,Keeter and Pearish as Brian Green rallied late to finish 6th.

Reliable Chevorlet SportMod action would ring the Maggard name again as Bobby Maggard Jr took advantage of his front row starting spot to lead all 20 laps of the feature event claiming his second win of the season. The former area FactoryStock front runner in his first season of SportMod racing grabbed the opening lead from Andrew Smith and withstood some hard racing action behind him. While Maggard Jr was riding the middle lane all eyes were on the point contenders as point leader Sean Williams and Wayne Graybeal were together like glue all night long.Williams who started 8th and Graybeal 10th stayed close as by lap 7 both drivers were in the top 5.Drama set the stage by lap 11 as Denny Felker Jr brought out the yellow as Williams had a flat tire due to contact up in the front pack.During the caution Williams changed the tire and rejoined the field in 15th while Graybeal was running third.Graybeal then shot to the pits before the restart with a flat left front tire and rejoined before the start right behind Williams.Up front Maggard Jr. was all alone as veteran Rob Muilenburg had moved into second place with Larry Tindle right behind him.Maggard would cross the stripe with the victory while Tindle grabbed second as Muilenburg,Andrew Smith and Chris Morelock rounded the top 5.Later in tech,Muilenburg(Carb) and Smith(Intake) were DQ'ed changing the final order to Maggard,Tindle,Morelock,Willie Wilson and Gary Rodocker.

Wheeler StreetStock action wouldn't see the Maggard theme continue but was a big part of the action.Josh Rupp and Mark Asbell brought the field to the green flag as previous weeks winner Randy High and Nick Whitehead along with Bob Maggard Sr were starting towards the rear along with defending champion Robert High.Randy High shot to the extreme top groove and drove right around the field as all battled.Current point leader Jack Hamer settled in behind High as Maggard followed closely.Maggard had moved into second place when the caution waved on lap 2.On the double-file restart,Maggard picked the low groove as Hamer went upstairs.Randy high quickly brought the field down as Maggard Sr pulled even with the leader. For the next 8 laps,it was Maggard and High dead even though the entire track while behind the leaders was the battle for third involving Robert High,Nick Whitehead,Hamer and Jesse Parton. On lap 12,High was finally able to shake the veteran racer away for just a lap and get a 2 car length lead.Heading for the last lap,Maggard went from the top groove to the lower lane and made another charge on High falling only about 1 car length short as Randy High took his second win with Maggard Sr,Robert High,Whitehead and Hamer completing the top 5.

MidWest Modz feature action saw Shawn Hatcher and Shane Bias bring the field to the green flag with Hatcher grabbing the early lead.Points runner-up JC Newell wasted no time in grabbing the top spot as the field crossed the stripe on lap 1 as Lamar Newman followed closely. With Newell seting a quick-pace,Newman was having a strong run close behind as Bobby Gough was coming from the 5th row and point leader Kaleb Copher was being patient in mid-pack.On lap 6,caution waved for Shane Bias as Gough and Newman double-filed behind the leader Newell on the restart.Copher then began his charge to the top 5 as Newell set a quick-pace again.Gough tried several attempts to get around Newell but little JC held firm.Copher was invloved in contact while battling for posistion and did a complete 360 spin in turn 2 keeping the race green.Newell went on the grab the win with Gough,Trevor Drake,Newman and point leader Copher completing the top 5.

Legends Car point leader Justin Comer overcame a bad qualifying effort, but saw the Pepsi redraw work to his advantage taking the opening lead from newcomer Gary Hinton as Dave Comer tucked-in behind him.Dave Comer had tried several times to overtake the leader as the mid-pack was tight with 3 wide action.Lap 9 will prove to be a turning point in the chase for the championship as points runner-up Rob Watson who was going forward in the standing started to backpetal, then got caught up in some action ended up flipping his car as it went well up in the air in turn 3.The race was red-flagged as safety crews went to retrieve the hard charger.Watson was able to walk away from the massive crash unhurt as the race resumed.Justin Comer then held off several charges from Dave Comer in taking the victory with Dave Comer,Park Jones,Tyler Horton and father Paul Horton following closely.

The Purestock feature saw 10 entries take the green flag twice as joey Blackstone took advantage of his front row pole spot and then hold off a late race charge by Jeremy Jones in taking his first win of the season.Following Blackstone and Jones to the line in the wild 12 lap feature were Joey Long,JF Gott and Chris Woodruff.

Up next at the SpringfieldRaceway will be the Wheeler Metals Season Championships for all 6 classes with the Buweiser A-Mods,Reliable Chevrolet SportMods,Wheeler Metals StreetStocks,LegendsCars,MidWest Modz and PureStocks. In the event of bad weather the standings will be final as they currently stand.
