Steve Karnes made the long haul from Marion, Il payoff with a Late Model victory Friday night at the Malden Speedway. Karnes was dominating in his win as he finished a full quarter lap ahead of second place Steve Rushin. Charles LaPlant out dueled Scott Tracer for third and Kris Lloyd rounded out the top five. Karnes also won the heat race.

After the Late Model race was run Green-White-Checkered, the caution flags started flying. Six yellow flags fell on the Modified race. Mike Francis of Fredricktown came close to winning in his first trip to Malden last week, he got his victory this week. Francis led all 20 laps but Brad Buck and Greg King hounded him the whole way down to the final straight. Terry Kerbough took fourth, and Todd Clifford fifth. Francis, King, and Clifford won the heat races.

Jason Pennington won the Hobby Stock feature. Pennington inherited the lead from Scott Tracer after the two got together in turn two and Tracer suffered a flat tire. Ronnie Tilley ran second, with Jerry Buck third. Rounding out the top five were Jamie Robards and Jeff Tilley. Ronnie Tilley won the heat race.

The Street Stock race deteriorated to a parade of yellows, with the longest run the final three laps. That developed into quite a duel as Aaron Darby
edged Scott Wicker following a lap of side by side racing. Red Rice raced
to third, Steve Forsythe fourth and Justin McBroom rounded out the top five.
Mike Elliot was in a nasty crash in turn three that mangled up his car. A quick trip to the pits to rip off the loose stuff and he returned and raced
to a ninth place finish. Heat winners were Wicker, McBroom, and Randall

Kelley and Kelley once again dominated the Cruiser field, as they led from start to finish. Doublin and Simpson were second best again. Those two cars also won the heat races. The big scare in the race came on lap 3 when the
6699 car of Wells & Smith went off turn two and rolled over. Neither driver was hurt.
