The Malden Speedway once again had to deal with the weather as Friday's
program was cut short. The make up Feature races from last week, and the
heats for the regular scheduled program were run, but the rains came and
washed out the second set of feature races.

The racing opened with the make up races from last week. Robbie Arnold won
an excellent race to take the honors in the Modified division. Claudie Cook
took his third win in four weeks in the Hobby Stocks. Chuck Tilley won in
Pure Street. Scott Austin and Jason Pennington took the Cruiser feature.
The Sprint Car make up will be ran as part of a double feature night
September 26th.

The Modified feature opened with polesitter Robert Powers grabbing the lead
and threatening to run away from the field. Powers had built a two second
lead before the race's lone caution was thrown on lap nine. Powers handling
was not the same after restart and he had to settle for a fifth place
finish. On the restart, Robbie Arnold dove under Powers with Bart
Richardson in tow to take the lead. The lead pair pulled away from the
field with Arnold holding off Richardson's constant challenge. Brad Buck
took third. Claudie Cook moved up from the 14th starting position to take
fourth.

Heat winners were Powers, Buck, and Jared Wagster.

Bollinger coming out of turn two and Cook followed right behind. Cook took
the lead from Tracer on lap 7 using the same move coming out of turn four.
By lap eleven Tony Anglin and Doug Moore had moved into second and third and
were bearing down on Cook. Cook was able to secure the victory as Anglin and
Moore battled side by side for second with Anglin taking the position.

In a race that was run caution free, Chuck Tilley won a tight three way
battle with Johnny Houart and Tony Copeland to pick up his third Pure Street
feature win of the year. Tilley grabbed the lead on lap 9 but had to battle
to hold off the top two challengers the final three laps. Houart and
Copeland swapped second a couple of times, before Houart won that battle.
