MARA TO OPEN SEASON AT FARMER CITY RACEWAY

MARA is anxiously awaiting its season opener at Farmer City Raceway on Friday, May 27th for the 1st Annual Charlene Meents Memorial. Several dates are being planned at Farmer City Raceway this season in order to bring quality midget racing back to the Midwest. Several MARA regulars are slated to attend the event, including local drivers Donnie Lehmann, Rich Camfield, and Davey Camfield. Rookie contenders Mike DiBartolomeo and TJ Barber are also expected to be beginning their MARA careers that night.

MARA would like to thank sponsors Jerry Boubin with Real Wheels and American Racer Tires, Joe Fontana with Fontana Automotive, and Kenny Weiland with Weiland Enterprises. Addtional sponsors are still being sought at this time. If you or your business are interested in sponsoring this event, please contact Stephanie Meents at 618-210-4342.

MARA has been sanctioning midget racing events since 1977 and are excited about bringing midget racing back to the Central Illinois area. 2005 marks a historical year for MARA racing with the addition of mini-sprint racing to our program. The mini-sprints will join the midgets at some events, as well as having some events on their own. The mini-sprint season is currently planned to kick off with a two-day show at Fayette County Raceway, Brownstown, IL.
